Mission
We will prepare students for college in a supportive, small school environment that fosters academic success through greater relevance to students’ culture, community, and personal lives. HS2 will serve Beaverton’s diverse population of students and families by working with community partners to provide a rigorous and innovative health and science education.

HS2 opened in 2007 with 115 ninth graders; currently 684 students, 6-12
Student PopulationThe Health and Science School is located in the Beaverton School District and is a district-wide option school. Approximately 44% of our students are living in poverty. Of these students, 33% are Hispanic, 4% African American, 12% are English language learners, 13% are students with disabilities, and 52% of our students are female (48% of the students in our engineering courses are female).
Through ongoing recruiting efforts, we work to maintain this diversity.
Theories of Action
#1: Depth-over-breadth (graduate school level) experiences in the sciences will engage and motivate more students to strive for college readiness.
#2: Equally important to the teaching of content and skills, HS2 strives to assist each and every student to acquire the identity of a successful college student.
