The first cycle of observation is complete.

Possible small adjustments to the statistics with the return visits.

This update aims to highlight what we are doing well, and which areas require development.

The next cycle will take place over the autumn and spring terms.

The slightly lower figure for Planning links to Assessment

and progress over time.

Consideration needs to be given to how far Assessment informs the Planning of the lesson and learning outcomes.

Priorities for improving the quality of teaching across TCS remain the same to those identified in June.

scrutiny

•CTLs and subject teams should aim to develop clearly standardised systems of marking and assessment.

Directory of Best Practice

CTLs and teachers should also use the ‘Directory of Best Practice’ to target strengths for observation across the subject teams.

The Directory will be completed for distribution by the end of September 2012.

Twilight CPD

• One of the twilight CPD sessions will focus on student led learning with particular emphasis on collaborative learning techniques.

• CTLs should discuss priorities with their team using the lesson feedback sheets, and encourage those who would benefit from the session, to attend.

Literacy and Communication will feature on the inset programme for 2012-13.

Literacy and Communication will feature on the back of the observation feedback sheet.

It will not be graded, but will become a crucial element of feedback and development.

CTLs and teaching staff should continue to consider how they are addressing this important issue.
