    CELEBRATING YEARS

2019 IS THE YEAR OF THE PIG - CHINESE NEW YEAR IS A GREAT POST-CHRISTMAS OCCASION TO INCREASE FOOTFALL AND PROFITS AT YOUR VENUE! • Decorate your venue inside and out with traditional decorations in red and

gold which symbolise happiness and wealth in Chinese culture. Lanterns are a great way add to your venue’s atmosphere as well.

    • Add some oriental dishes to your specials board or create a set Chinese banquet menu for the night. Chinese New Year is a two week celebration so why not extend the specials for a longer period?

    • Lucky red envelopes are a Chinese custom that you could adopt to entice your customers back again by adding in special offer vouchers, such as a free bottle of wine with their next meal.

    • For an all-out celebration fireworks and festivals are a big part of traditional Chinese New Year celebrations – run a family fun day ending with a fireworks display! See HSE fireworks safety advice here: www.hse.gov.uk/explosives/fireworks/using.htm

    • Offer a free bottle of Prosecco for early bookings!• Create Valentine’s themed cocktails. Think red and sweet as a starting point

and include fun and interesting garnishes such as rose petals or love heart sweets. 2 for 1 cocktails are a perfect offer for Valentine’s Day.

    • Offering a set menu at a good price is sure to boost business. Add a little romance with sharing dishes and heart shaped food, especially for dessert.

    • Set the romantic atmosphere with candles and flowers on the table for a simple and classy ambience. Booking a live singer for the night could really help to create a romantic mood in your venue!

    • You could even take advantage of an alternative Valentine’s opportunity by promoting events for the singles market such as a speed dating night?

GENERATE BUSINESS IN THE QUIETEST MONTH OF THE YEAR FOR THE ON TRADE BY PROMOTING BURNS NIGHT!• Tartan and Scottish flag bunting are a great starting point for Burns Night

décor, but you can also think outside the box with your decorations, for example using heather in your place settings.

    • Run a set menu with Scottish themed dishes or add Scottish items to your specials board. Haggis, neeps and tatties are a traditional starting point, but other options include cullen skink, Aberdeen Angus steak/burgers and raspberry cranachan. Mini deep-fried Mars Bars are a fun dessert alternative.

    • Whether you go traditional with live bagpipes or play music from Scottish bands (e.g. Franz Ferdinand, Texas, Biffy Clyro and Primal Scream), music will help to create an atmosphere in your venue.

    • Scotch whisky is the go-to drink for Burns Night. Get creative with your whisky cocktails as well - try a Scotch Sour, add a hot toddy to your offering for the night or even create a cocktail with the infamous Irn-Bru! Think about stocking some guest Scottish ales and some Scottish gins as well (such as Edinburgh Gin or Caorunn).

AMERICAN FOOTBALL HAS VASTLY GROWN IN POPULARITY IN THE UK OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND WITH REPORTS INDICATING THAT SHOWING THE SUPER BOWL IS WORTH MORE THAN £1000 PER SITE ON AVERAGE* NOW IS THE TIME TO CASH IN ON THE NFL!• Sell Super Bowl Party tickets in advance to build excitement and plan for

how many people you are expecting. Don’t forget you may have walk-ins as well!

    • Customers like a bargain so including a free burger and drink with advanced tickets will help to increase uptake.

    • American-themed foods are sure to be popular – burgers, wings, hot dogs, nachos and popcorn all offer good profit margins.

    • Run a special promotion on American bottled beers in ice buckets.• Don’t forget to apply for a TENs license if needed for your venue!
