A new year group, a new side of school but our Y3 children have made a promising start to KS2. It’s been a busy one especially with our class assemblies on the Stone Age. We’ve done everything from building Dino a shelter, to drawing on walls and under tables like cavemen. We can’t wait to round off our topic with a fossil hunt after half term!

Our Year 4 children had an amazing trip to Alnwick castle this week to conclude our topic on ‘Magic and Mysteries’. We made potions and rode on broomsticks just like Harry, Hermione and Ron!

Year 6 have definitely started this year with umphhh! From ordering and operating with fractions to penning heartfelt letters from the trenches… Year 6 have it all going on! We are incredibly impressed at how our children have settled into Year 6 and the maturity they are already exhibiting. We are very much looking forward to visiting Beamish in November and delving into the history of World War II.

Year 5 are all “spaced out! ” As well as the visiting Planetarium (many thanks to all those who donated), we have been learning about the distance between the planets, their orbits and sizes. This has helped us to write our own Non-Chronological reports. ATTENDANCE

Our target for the year is 97%+

Our children have settled beautifully into FS1. This half term we have talked about

our homes and our families. We have also enjoyed learning the names of our basic

shapes and some of our children have even started to describe them too! Well

done nursery!

Year 2 continue to dazzle us with their amazing literacy, numeracy and reading skills. This term has seen us learn some fascinating facts about minibeasts and show off what amazing performers we are in our Harvest Musical Extravaganza! We can’t wait for Autumn 2.

We visited lots of shops along Skelton High Street. We saw

slithery snakes, a bearded dragon and a hairy rabbit in the pet shop. We bought bread and jam and had jam on toast when

we returned to school.
