Meaning of the Poem: Stanza 1LITERAL MEANING FIGURATIVE MEANING

The persona, a young innocent girl is falling in love with a charming man. She trusted him very much. His eyes looks so sincere and the girl did not realize that the man would betray her. The man begged the girl to accept him and surrender herself wholly; her heart, soul and body.

In our life, we have to go through and get involve in all walks of life and all sorts of human character. Sometimes we got cheated by their sincere looking and action.

The persona experiences betrayal of her feelings of love and belief in the man’s sincerity. She realizes that she should have listened to advices. If she was, she would be burdened with the ‘how and why’ now.

There are people who just pretend. They betray those that put their trust on him/her. Either it be in social or business relationship. Listening too musch to them caused problems to ourselves.

Young ladies must be careful before getting involve in a relationship.

We should be more well prepared in our life. All along our journey, we tend to make mistakes. Learn from it and don’t repeat the same mistake again
