Substances) is a new European Directive

thatbecameeffectiveonthe1stofJuly2006

andsimilarregulationshavebeenadopted

in many other countries worldwide.

the strict regulations in theDirective. It is

closelylinkedwiththeWasteElectricaland

Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE)

2002/96/EC which sets col lect ion ,

recyclingandrecoverytargetsforelectrical

goods.

Themaximumpermittedconcentrationsare0.1%or1000ppm(exceptfor

cadmium,whichislimitedto0.01%or100ppm)byweightofhomogeneous

material.Thelimitsdonotapplytotheweightofthefinishedproduct,or

eventoacomponent,buttoanysinglehomogenousmaterialforexample,

thesheathonacableorthetinningonacomponentlead.
