HAY was founded in Denmark, 2002 by a young couple called Mette and Rolf Hay. Functioning somewhere be-tween fashion, sustainability and architecture, HAY’s main ambition is to create durable, quality furniture at affordable prices. Inspired by the innovative era of 1950’s and 1960’s, where quality, craftsmanship and functionality made Danish design well-known, HAY constantly works with new technol-ogies and materials in order to adapt to the ever-changing consumer demands of today. To achieve this goal, they not only work with the world’s leading designers but also nur-turing and promoting young talents who create cutting-edge and quirky concepts for understanding the fields of modern life. HAY honors the simple design and strives to be practical, genuine and cheerful. That is why HAY designers are given a full creative freedom while working, since they never told about what the company and the current collection needs at that moment. Besides their permanent stores, HAY also has had several pop-up stores called “Mini Markets”, where smaller accessories like stationary, storage solutions or even blankets can be found that perfectly accompanies the modern workplace as well as private homes. Over the years, HAY has turned into a global corporation, employing hundreds of people worldwide at sustainable workplaces. Retailers of HAY are present in most countries as well as flagship stores across Europe and Asia. Further-more, in 2013 the international co-brand called “Wrong For HAY” was established in collaboration with designer Sebas-tian Wrong. In addition to his own designs for the brand he is also searching for new talents with an eye for innovative and bold designs in the multicultural melting pot of London.
