Executive Committee Report Nothing to report, other than the Finance Meeting results.
On 4/5/2018, Greg Opsal from Waddell and Reed presented to the
finance committee our account review. We are currently 2/3 stocks
and 1/3 bonds. Since last year we increased our profits by 14.55%,
which was an increase of $33,365.89.
Greg recommended a small change of increasing small and mid-
investments by 5% and decrease large cap investments by 5%.
Everything looks good and we don’t foresee any major changes.

April 2018 Webmaster- Hawkeye Static Editor Report
The SwankHealthcare conversion to ReliasLearning went well. My 2nd training with the Transition Team is complete so all
15
further communication or questions will be done with the 24/7/365 contact desk according to the contract. During that training I asked for electronic instructions to give each user. They assigned an automatic tutorial course through the site on each new user. I receive a monthly notice of course completions by user. Copy/pasting the course lists of overusage for the invoice’s is easier. Since 4/10/2017: 82 extra courses have been completed. All courses were completed without payment in advance. The ISRT must remain diligent in this monitoring. As sending invoices recovers funds to be used to pay our monthly bill with ReliasLearning. Every person who renews membership with the ISRT is checked with usage on the site and e-mail updated if needed. 82 extra courses x $15/each= $1,230.00 I have recovered all but $45. 1-year free membership gift for the 2018 class started April 1st. I have received 0 Graduating Student Membership applications, since their conference follows the ISRT Annual Meeting this year. Deadline is June 1. Their membership year is July 1-July 1 the following year, unless of course they are a current member. Then their membership is extended an additional year. I have requested the online application be added back onto the website. *it makes it easier to decipher the information from the students. Their handwriting can be difficult to read. There were 66 students that took advantage of the gift in the 2017 class. 2016 class: 41, with 10 still holding membership in 2018.
2015 class: 83
2014 class: 55

The ISRT website is a source of information. Neapolitan has been fielding e-mails and orders from too many people on the ISRT Board. The ISRT Webmaster who is a Registered Technologist should screen information prior to being placed on our ISRT website for its appropriateness, as that person is the one that will be getting questions by users. Neapolitan, as the paid website host should only place what they’ve been told to upload onto the site. A named ISRT Webmaster needs to continue to exist because the members will need one consistent person to contact. The Board positions/duties change and the ISRT members will not have consistency to rely on. The March edition of the Hawkeye Static is posted on the website. Please remember to forward your reports to me, in .doc, .docx, or excel so they can get in the Hawkeye Static. [email protected] PDF documents take too much time to convert or copy/paste with editing done too. The deadline for the next edition of the Hawkeye Static is: May 15th. I’ll need all reports for the BOD meeting, Minutes of BOD meeting and Annual Meeting, President’s Message from Matt, Outgoing message from Tammy.

On March 6th
I responded to Rosie from Iowa Lakes
Community College in Emmetsburg, IA. She was inquiring if the
ISRT could send speakers to their hospital for continuing education
credits, due to their location it can be difficult for technologists to
travel to our Spring Symposium. I explained that at this time sending
speakers to specific locations was not something the ISRT was
offering but we are available to help with all other aspects of any
future meetings they may have.
At this time there are no other pending meetings.

Legislative Report Legislative Advisory Report for April 2018 ISRT Board Meeting
Over the last couple of weeks everyone should have received a
letter from the Iowa Department of Public Health stating they are
transitioning to the ACR for Mammography. This accreditation has to do
18
with the films you send in to be reviewed. This transition is based on your
certification expiration date. See below Notification for March 2018.

In January Debra Wilks replaced Dave Myers who retired at the Iowa
Department of Public Health. She is currently working on Shielding Plans
and updates to those regulations. IE Dental, Possible Podiatry and CT

this time.

Historian Report
The ASRT has offered to archive all of our historical items to
electronic files and also store the items at the ASRT Museum and
Archives in New Mexico. I would like to recommend that the ISRT
BOD pursue this offer. If approved to send the historical items, I
20
would like to set a date and time to determine what items to send or
discard.
The Historical Quiz and items to display are ready to go for
tomorrow’s meeting.

Bylaws Report
There have been numerous changes to the ISRT
bylaws this year. Bylaws were reviewed by ASRT's
parliamentarian and suggested changes were made.
Proposed changes were sent electronically to the
membership in late February via email and Facebook. Most
changes revolve around verbiage changes to match ASRT.
Article V – Membership: Section 4 - Resignation/
Reinstatement was revised to include legal terminology and
coverage for indebtedness. Article XV Area
Indemnification and Dissolution was removed since all
Areas have been dissolved. A new Article was created -
Article XV- Censure, Reprimand, and Removal. All of the
previous sections were removed from throughout the
bylaws and moved to the new Article. The Article was
revised to match ASRT verbiage.

Meeting Registration report
The website was easy to function and really enjoyed working from it.
Reports and badges were easy to print and access. I would use them
again. Much easier than the registrations I have done in the past. My
only issue was who was doing what so we were not duplicating and
suggest that next year we have a list of who is taking care of things.
Friday we have 92 registered for the meeting, which includes techs,
board members and students, but does not include the vendor tables
or speakers that may be eating,
Saturday we have 101 Registered for the meeting
Three tables for vendors
83 Two day attendee’s
9 Friday only
18 Saturday Only
There are a total of 114 registered for the meeting.
Respectfully submitted, Yvonne Grant, Meeting Registration Chairperson

Suggested Topics for Next Year: Mental Health, STAR clinic-fostering/children from traumatic
backgrounds, have a radiologist as a speaker, Great meeting! Enjoyed all
the speakers. I loved all of Julie’s topics very different than all others. I
would say as someone out of the city the women’s center info was great.
More stuff like radiation emergency response, tips and tricks to
positioning but more for limited radiology, understanding rules and
ethics ARRT vs ASRT, technologist scope of practice-can’t and can do,
legal rights and responsibilities to report- retaliation and harassment,
EEO OSC-ORM-OIG-Jacho-Who’s who, how to report violation – who
can help me?? When facility won’t. Neonatal. Interesting /rare
pathologist that may be seen, new imaging technologies out or to come,
radiation disasters, how mistakes/disasters have improved medical
imaging. Hybrid imaging, cardio vascular-carotid stents endografts,
Great variety in presenters.
General comments- We appreciated the venue both for the conference room as able to see
presentations better.

facility was outstanding!!

Great program: wish I could have come Friday.
More 100% fruit juice for breakfast. Breakfast sandwiches were
delicious. Chairs, seating/auditorium was AWESOME! Is there any state
that does have a strong state membership. If yes, what are they doing
that we can model it.
Really liked this set up for comfort. Great job everyone as always.
We love the location!

MATTHEW J. KEILLY MEMORIAL
Matthew J. Keilly was born September 17, 1900, in New York City and received his educa-tion there. He was first employed in 1924 by a machine manufacturing company in New York. In 1935, he joined Eastman Kodak Company and was later a sales representative in a territory that included Iowa. He died suddenly while vacationing in Mexico on January 4,1963. It was during his years in Iowa that he became a true friend to the I.S.R.T. His generosity with his personal time resulted in education and social endeavors during annual meetings and district functions. Not only were the members able to enjoy the friendship of Matt Keilly, but Matt also enjoyed joining the
members in relaxing moments during their meetings.
35
The consensus of those who knew Matt Keilly is that he was a dedicated man, dedicated to helping his friends to do their jobs well and dedicated to helping those people grow in their chosen professions. He was a kind. Friendly man as many radiologists, technologists, and business colleagues will long remember.
At the January 27,1963 I.S.R.T. Executive Committee meeting Mr. R.S. Macy informed the committee of the death of Matthew J. Keilly. He also mentioned that a friend of Matt's wished to make a donation in Matt's name to the I.S.R.T. on hopes that some type of memorial could be established. From records contained in the historian's files, the contribution of $50.00 was received on January 28,1963. There is no record of correspondence in the files indicating how the knowledge of the memorial was publicized, other than through the districts to their members. But, in February of 1963, the Board became aware that there were others who wished to contribute and determined that this should be a permanent memorial with the funds being put into an interest bearing account. The Matthew J. Keilly Fund was officially established. Correspondence continued with all the contributors and particularly with a relative of Mr. Keilly's who anonymously contributed over $350.00 in 1963. The I.S.R.T. continued to receive contributions from districts, members, friends, and colleagues and in 1964 the I.S.R.T. matched the amount in the fund, making the total approximately $1,000.00.
At the 1964 Annual Meeting, it was announced that the Matthew J. Keilly Award would be presented to the First Place Scientific Paper presented at the Annual Meeting. Sister Ann Marie Strickling was the first recipient. The I.S.R.T. continued to honor the request of the contributing relative to remain anonymous. During 1963, 1964, and 1965 his contributions totaled $500.00. In 1975, upon his death, a bequest of another $500.00 was forwarded to the Society. During those years, photographs of the plaque and the recipient were sent to him and his return correspondence displayed the impact that this memorial made on his life. The award continued to be given to the First Place Scientific Paper until 1968. At that time, the Executive Committee discussed and the membership approved inviting a guest lecturer to receive the reward. At the 1969 Annual Meeting the members voted that the interest earned from the fund be used for public relations and educational purpose. The Executive Committee, abiding by this directive, determined that the Matthew J. Keilly Award would be presented to a technologist who had been outstanding in his/her contribution to further the science of radiologic technology in Iowa. This practice has continued with the recipient of the award now receiving a plaque and a $300.00 honorarium. The I.S.R.T. and its members who have perpetuated this memorial can certainly be proud of their endeavors and farsightedness. The recipients have honored the name of Matthew J. Keilly.
