No writing is allowed on them that show through the shirt. PT SHIRTS be sure your child does not wear a shirt under their red PT shirt. No shirts are allowed underneath that show through or stick out. WARMTH as it gets colder, we have many challenges with students wearing unauthorized sweaters, jackets, etc. They can wear their PT jacket with both PT and Class B uniforms. They can purchase an all- black windbreaker that is weatherproof from the Hawk Exchange with cash or merits. They can wear plain black crew neck sweatshirts with both uniforms for warmth. They can wear all black gloves and all black beanies (without design or logo) for warmth, but THAT IS IT. NO OTHER SWEATERS, SWEATSHIRTS, OR JACKETS ARE AUTHORIZED AT ANY TIME.

HAWK WEEKLY Volume 3, Issue 12 October 19, 2015

A Note from the Superintendent DUTIES OF AN NVMI PARENT:

This week’s duty is Duty #1:. Require your child to adhere to the cadet code of honor at all times. The NVMI

Honor Code is stated below:

NVMI CADET CODE OF HONOR

At North Valley Military Institute, cadets learn and behave by a code of conduct that will serve them well

during their time at the academy and long after they have graduated. It is simple, and should govern everything cadets do both on

and off campus. Violating the cadet code will lead to disciplinary action and disciplinary consequences which may include

suspension or expulsion from the North Valley Military Institute.

1. Ensure your child wears the correct and complete uniform daily and complies with all grooming and appearance standards.

At new parent orientation, all parents were given an extensive briefing on the uniforms and how they are properly worn. Here are

some reminders of things that will help your child comply with our uniform expectations:

HAIR – Boys’ haircuts should clearly be military haircuts. We recommend the barber use a number “2” blade with clippers on

the top and a number “1” clipper blade on the back and sides around the ears. That haircut should last a typical boy at least two

weeks. Know they we also have free haircuts available for students each month. Talk to your son’s TAC team for details. Girls’

hair must be in a “bun” pulled back tightly and off the face and ears. Hair should be all one color and natural (not dyed).

PANTS AND SHIRTS- should be clean and ironed. Shirts should have military creases in them (one from top to bottom through

the center of each shirt pocket, and three equally distanced on the back of the shirt, with one directly down the center.

GARRISON CAPS – Cadets wear garrisons ONLY at formation and then put them away in their backpacks, so they should not

have any excuse to lose their garrison caps. They should also be sure their name and company name are written clearly on the

inside of the garrison.

SHOES – The same shoes can be worn with both PT and Class B uniforms, but they should be CLEAN. We recommend using

soap and water to clean them, or a baby wipe.

SHIRTS - White t-crew neck (not V-neck) are the only type worn with Class B uniforms. No writing is allowed on them that

show through the shirt.

HYGEINE – Remind your child we inspect fingernails for cleanliness during inspections and they should have clean faces and

hands as well as brushed teeth.

PT SHIRTS – be sure your child does not wear a shirt under their red PT shirt. No shirts are allowed underneath that show

through or stick out.

WARMTH – as it gets colder, we have many challenges with students wearing unauthorized sweaters, jackets, etc. They can

wear their PT jacket with both PT and Class B uniforms. They can purchase an all- black windbreaker that is weatherproof from

the Hawk Exchange with cash or merits. They can wear plain black crew neck sweatshirts with both uniforms for warmth. They

can wear all black gloves and all black beanies (without design or logo) for warmth, but THAT IS IT. NO OTHER SWEATERS,

SWEATSHIRTS, OR JACKETS ARE AUTHORIZED AT ANY TIME.

Student-Led Conferences (held last week)

IF YOU CAME TO STUDENT LED CONFERENCES, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

If you could not attend, you will need to come to the main office to pick up your child’s Report Cards and

Student-Led Conference Scripts. You missed an important series of conferences last Thursday if you were

unable to attend. NVMI does not mail report cards, so please come in to the office during office hours

(0630-1630) to pick up the report card and student led conference materials.
