Volcanoes

• The Hawaiian islands were created by volcanic eruptions that happened millions of years ago.

• There are currently 3 active volcanoes in Hawaii. • At Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, visitors can

come close to the most active volcano in the world.

• Kilauea is the name of the most active volcano. It has been continuously erupting since 1983.

• “Hana” means bay and “uma” means curve. • Hanauma Bay is one of the most popular

places to visit in Hawaii.• It is known for having lots of green sea turtle

Pearl Harbor

• Located on the island of O’ahu and is the location for a United States Navy base.

• On December 7, 1941, the Japanese Navy began a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.

• This attack led to the United States involvement in World War II.
