America ReFramed spotlights diverse Americans working to change misconceptions on intellec-tual disability, with Intelligent Lives, premiering in October. Narrated by acclaimed actor Chris Cooper, Intelligent Lives debuts on October 22 at 7 PM on WORLD Channel, in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

America ReFramed takes viewers into the lives of three young people living with an intellectual disability who challenge per-ceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college and the workforce. Directed and produced by award-winning film-maker Dan Habib and narrated by Academy Award®-winning actor Chris Cooper, Intelligent Lives premieres on Tuesday, October 22, at 7 PM on WORLD Channel and WorldChan-nel.org, in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The documentary follows three Americans living with an intellectual disability, each striving to overcome stereotypes and misconceptions as they work to create more independent lives for themselves, with the support of family, friends, educators and colleagues. Viewers see 17-year-old Naieer Shaheed’s jour-ney through a Boston public school and his desire for a career in visual arts; 32-year-old Micah Fialka-Feldman’s life as a student and assistant teacher at Syracuse University as he enters the dating scene; and 25-year-old Naomie Monplaisir’s attempt to secure work at a Providence, Rhode Island beauty school to gain financial independence.

Here locally we are a small but mighty team consistently creating an amazing team. Our

award-winning local documentaries about topics like Illinois River Documentary Series to The Sinking of the Columbia bring you stories you will not find anywhere else.

Close to my heart is the work we do with children with our community partners like Align Peoria, Success by 6, Easter Seals and many more. PBS kids reaches more children in low-income homes than any kids TV network, in fact we reach 72% of all kids ages 2-8 years old. We are focused and ready to support kindergarten readiness for the children of central Illinois.
