CONNECTING POINT REFLECTIONHow can I find the strength to pray even when I’m burned out?

Like most people, I work hard to meet deadlines, fulfill obligations, and spend time with family & friends, but it always feels as though there is just not enough time. The to-do list that organizes my life only seems to get longer and it can wear on me.

Like Moses in the first reading from this weekend, sometimes we need help when we become weary. I am thankful for the support and love of my wife who strengthens me when I feel worn down. A big part of that strength comes from the time we spend in prayer. Who in your life gives you that support and strength?

In the readings this weekend, Jesus tells the disciples a parable about always praying without becoming weary and St. Paul reminds us to be faithful to what we have learned and believed… prayer and seeking wisdom from Scripture. These words are good reminders that no matter how worn down we get by the day, no matter how long

CONNECTING POINTthe to-do list grows, now matter how many people wear us down, that we must continue to pray.

So let’s pray for strength, pray for the work we do, pray for the people we meet, and thank God for all that God has done and is continuing to do in our lives.

BEST FESTIVAL EVEROn behalf of the St Isidore Strawberry Festival Committee, we want to personally thank all of you for your support, participation, and attendance this past June at our 61st annual Strawberry Festival. The easiest way to summarize what took place is 3 simple words – BEST FESTIVAL EVER. We are proud to report that we broke through 60 years of records with our highest gross revenue and highest net profit!! Without all of you, none of this would have been possible. Special thanks to Fr. Ron, Fr. Matt and the rest of the parish staff for your support during a very busy 3 day weekend. Also, special thanks to God for giving us a beautiful 3 day weekend with lots of sunshine and no rain. Proceeds from this community-building event will continue to go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the church campus. There is always lots of work to be done relating to the interior and exterior of the parish buildings.

Please mark your calendars for the 2020 Strawberry Festival which will take place the weekend of June 26, 27 and 28. Once again, there will be lots of food, raffles, and entertainment for one and all.

Once again, it’s time to start thinking about our annual Christmas Giving Tree Program. Just as in the past, we will be using gift certificates but will also gladly accept checks or cash to make it more convenient for everyone.

Gift certificates may be purchased from Kohls, J.C. Penney or Target in denominations from $5.00 to $25.00. Please buy as many gift certificates as you like.

This year, we will be helping families living within our parish boundaries, St. Peter & Paul Warming Center, Nativity Church, and Baby Pantry.

The Giving Tree is meant to be a living symbol of the true meaning of Christmas. As we all know, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” God has been good to us and we can express our thankfulness by sharing with those less fortunate, when we use our Giving Tree envelopes. Please be as generous as you can.

The trees will be located in the gathering space at each entrance to the Church and one at the Rosary Garden entrance.

Next week’s bulletin will provide more information about each charitable organization.

Dogs, Cats... but no reptiles, rabbits or birds...

The weather was perfect for the Pet Blessing on Saturday, Oct 5th. 48 dogs and 2 cats received blessings witnessed by their 61 owners. Many new friendships were made, some amongst the humans. Fr. Ron later asked: “Reptiles?” No Father. “Rabbits?” No Father. “Birds?” No Father. Maybe next year. Thank you to our SITE Teen, Sophia, for coordinating, Amy who provided the great music, Deacon Tom who blessed each pet individually and the 10 Confirmation Students who volunteered.

“The only time our Lord asked the Apostles for anything was the night He went into agony. Not for activity did He plead but for an hour of companionship.” (Archbishop Fulton Sheen)

The Holy Spirit, through the assistance of the Worship Commission and the Parish Leadership Team, would like to invite you to join the Adoration Team and commit one hour of private prayer before the most Holy Eucharist.

The exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is available every Tuesday immediately following morning Mass and concludes with Benediction at 6:00 pm. The Chapel is located in the Resource Center which is the first door on the right after entering through the Rosary Garden entrance.

There is no formal format to private Eucharistic Adoration. Say the Rosary or

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

your favorite prayers, read scripture, talk to the Lord and share your burdens, or just sit in His presence and let Him speak to you.

There are several people who have committed to certain hours and there are over 40 people who stop in each week and take the time to sign in to the log book. With the upcoming winter months, additional commitments to a specific hour are needed to cover absences and “Snow Bird” vacancies.

Feel free to stop in anytime; spend a few minutes or an hour. If you would like to sign up as a regular Adorer during any time period for the Tuesday hours there is a signup form at www.stIsidore.church/adoration-chapel-signup, contact the office at 586-286-1700, or contact Dave Bisdorf at 586-202-7000 if you have any questions.

THE WEEKEND BEFORE WORLD MISSION SUNDAY NEXT WEEKEND we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Pope Francis invites the entire Church

to support mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and

THE WEEKEND OF WORLD MISSION SUNDAY TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We celebrate this day by remembering our baptismal call

- to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith

ensures the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay

leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in

the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity.

Pope Francis has set October 2019 as an Extraordinary Missionary Month to foster greater awareness of “missio ad gentes” and to animate the missionary transformation of Church life and pastoral activity. He has asked each country to highlight a great missionary who shared their life for the love of the Gospel. In the U.S.A., we have chosen Sister Dorothy Stang, SNDdeN, who was martyred in Brazil in 2005 because of her defense of Indigenous people and the Environment. To learn more about her exemplary missionary life, please go to missio.org/resources.

This poster has information for animation, providing for a fruitful celebration of

World Mission Sunday in your parish. Digital resources will also be available to

supplement this experience, through our Missio Bot on Facebook Messenger, as

well as materials for your parish bulletin and for young people. Learn more at

MISSIO.org.

EVERY YEAR, SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENS on the next-to-last Sunday of

October. WORLD MISSION SUNDAY joins all

Catholics of the world into one community

of faith. At Mass that Sunday, we recommit

ourselves to our common vocation, through

Baptism, to be missionaries, through prayer,

participation in the Eucharist, and by giving

generously to the collection for the Society

for the Propagation of the Faith.

This year, Pope Francis addresses his World

Mission Sunday message to us as we live

out our baptismal call to be sent forth to

evangelize the world. This is the mission that

all Christians have received, and God gives us

the grace to live it out wherever we may be.

As we pray and respond on World Mission

Sunday here at home, we share in those

celebrations taking place in every parish,

seminary, school and convent all over the

world. Together with the Church of Christ on

mission in the world, we are baptized and

sent, providing the prayerful and financial

support necessary to bring the Lord’s mercy

and concrete help to the most vulnerable

communities in the Pope’s missions.

“ MAY THE LOvE FOR THE CHURCH’S MISSION, WHICH IS A PASSION FOR JESUS AND A PASSION FOR HIS PEOPLE ‘GROW EvER STRONGER!’”

In a world where so much divides us, World

Mission Sunday rejoices in our unity as

missionaries by our Baptism. And it provides

an opportunity to support the life-giving

presence of the Church among the poor and

marginalized in more than 1,111 mission

dioceses.

TODOS LOS AÑOS SUCEDE ALGO ESPECIAL el penúltimo domingo de

octubre, EL DOMINGO MUNDIAL DE LAS

THE WEEKEND BEFORE WORLD MISSION SUNDAY NEXT WEEKEND we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Pope Francis invites the entire Church

to support mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and

Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Please keep the Pope’s missions in your prayers and be generous in next week’s collection for the

Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

Thank you for your generosity.

generosidad.

EVERY YEAR, SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENS on the next-to-last Sunday of

October. WORLD MISSION SUNDAY joins all

Catholics of the world into one community

of faith. At Mass that Sunday, we recommit

ourselves to our common vocation, through

Baptism, to be missionaries, through prayer,

participation in the Eucharist, and by giving

generously to the collection for the Society

for the Propagation of the Faith.

This year, Pope Francis addresses his World

Mission Sunday message to us as we live

out our baptismal call to be sent forth to

evangelize the world. This is the mission that

all Christians have received, and God gives us

the grace to live it out wherever we may be.

As we pray and respond on World Mission

Sunday here at home, we share in those

celebrations taking place in every parish,

seminary, school and convent all over the

world. Together with the Church of Christ on

mission in the world, we are baptized and

sent, providing the prayerful and financial

support necessary to bring the Lord’s mercy

and concrete help to the most vulnerable

communities in the Pope’s missions.

“ MAY THE LOvE FOR THE CHURCH’S MISSION, WHICH IS A PASSION FOR JESUS AND A PASSION FOR HIS PEOPLE ‘GROW EvER STRONGER!’”

In a world where so much divides us, World

Mission Sunday rejoices in our unity as

missionaries by our Baptism. And it provides

an opportunity to support the life-giving

presence of the Church among the poor and

marginalized in more than 1,111 mission

dioceses.

TODOS LOS AÑOS SUCEDE ALGO ESPECIAL el penúltimo domingo de

octubre, EL DOMINGO MUNDIAL DE LAS
