ACL Injuries
Women are nearly three times more likely to have ACL injuries than men. And some statistics says that a female soccer player is eight times more likely to injury her ACL than a male soccer player.
What Is an ACL Injury? The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of four major ligaments that provide stability to the knee joint. These fibrous bands attach bone to bone and help control excessive motion of the knee joint and keeps the lower leg from sliding too far forward. What Causes an ACL Injury?ACL injuries are common in sports that involve sudden changes of direction, such as football, and soccer. Most are non-contact injuries that occur during sudden twisting motion (for example, when the feet are planted one way and the knees are turned another way) or when landing from a jump.

Procedures for Handling Player Behavior Issues
The Purpose and Principles of the Harvard Soccer Club can be found in our Policies and Procedures section of the Club website
Unsafe behavior: Any behavior that threatens the safety of coaches, players, or others on the field.
Disruptive behavior: At the discretion of the coach, any behavior that disrupts the agenda of the coach (whether during a game or practice) or limits the ability of any club member to enjoy the club game and practices activities

FYI - Regarding our U6-U8 Programs
K I N S1. Promote and emphasize the skill of
dribbling at the U6 (and U7) age group(s) and discourage the aimless booting of the ball.
2. Promote decision making by the players on the field and reduce their dependence on the adults for problem solving
Kicking Is Not Soccer
Harvard Soccer Club
KINS Playing Format
Coaches will encourage the players to dribble, dribble and dribble. Their first touch should be a soft one.
There should be very little coaching done by the coaches, just the occasional reminder to “dribble” and, when close enough to goal, to “shoot”.
Shouting “kick it” or “boot it” should never be hollered by the adults (coaches or spectators).
Coaching Rules

Concussion Education
• The HSC board has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting concussion education for all HSC coaches.
• To that end, the board is requiring that all coaches take the CDC online course.
• At the completion of the on-line course, send a certificate of completion to your age group coordinator.
We recommend that you ask all parents to inform you if their child has been diagnosed with a concussion previously.
We also recommend that you keep a few copies of the Parent/Athlete fact sheet in your equipment bag and provide it to any parent whose child you suspect may have suffered a concussion during a practice or game.
