    THE ALASKA CHRISTIAN DAY SCHOOL

    The load Mrs.Geriager is carrying as housemother and teacheris coo much for her. After stardng school for all the grades thisyear, we found it necessary to relieve her of the first and secondgrades by sending them to Homer (ten miles distance).

    Because of the background of many of the children and becausewe sometimes have them for only a year or so, we feel that theChristian Day School is essential. It is with reluctance that wehave made this decision to send even diese younger ones to thepublic school.

    The Geringers are due for furlough in May.If the AlaskaChris-tian Day School is to continue, a teacher must be found. Surely,the Lord will provide a qualified teacher who can come as a missionary to help us in diis work. We ask your prayers. If you areinterested in filling the job, please write us immediately.

    The Alaska Christian School is certified by (he Alaska Department of Education and our teacher must meet dieir academicstandards.

    Dear Mae;

    Regarding the item in "Keyhole" about our need for a teacher -Calvin C. Hartman has answered our call and will be coming to help"US this spring. Enclosed are his endorsement from the chui'ch wneretheir membership is :nid a picture of the family.

    "Keyhole" also mentioned our need for a relief worker. Since itcame out however, our cook has quit us and we naed both c. rel^eiworker and a cook. Although we realize that being a cook isn texactly what one thinks of as missionary work, we have come to theconclusion that it will best, if at all possible, for us oO navea missionary worker for our cook. Although Mrs. Lewis is a memberof the Pershing Ave* Christian Cburch in Liberal, Kans. she cert^-inlywas not well indoctrinated in the New Testament teachings concerningthe church and her contacts with the older girls who worked wii.^hher in the kitchen brought us no end of difficulties. Of course,the above sHntence is not for publication but we would appreciateit if you could tell of our answer to the need for a teacher^^d oithe need that still remains. Mrs. Hortman will work in as eithercook or relief worker, whichever best suits her abilities. She oaspoor eyesight so we halfway expect that it till be as relief workerand that we will still need a cook. Use your own discretion as tohow much of the above should be printed. I need not ask that Inot be quoted exactly i am sure.Mrs. Lewis, by the way, has gone to work at the ^^thodist orphanagein Seward, She seems to be happier there.

    We are still wonderinthe packet. If we arewe will get to work on^so we thought if we a

    w6 have time to send new materials fort too late, will you please notify us and

    We srs so busy and it will teke time -late we could use our time better.

    'We will want to use a picture and a write up about the Hartmans inoup newsletter which is due the first of next month. It might bewell to use the family picture for one and Just take ths Picture ofGel out for the other if you want to use one for Horizons. Tnatway we wouldn^t t)e duplicating. We do hope you can give him somepublicity in Horizons though because he will need not only travelfunds hut living link of $100.00 a ponth for him and the same 8mo^intfor his wife. His child's support has been raised J- believe. He hasslides and will be speaking in behalf of the work during the next

    few months, prior to his coming in May, s address isRt. Box 149A, Thermal, Calif.
