While it is important to focus on Jesus’ earthly ministry and sacrifi- cial death, it all would have been in vain if not for the resurrection (see 1 Corinthians 15:17). This is why Easter Sunday is the most im- portant day in the history of the world. It’s the day when human- ity found hope for the future and got a glimpse of what eternity will be like. It’s also the day we are re- minded of how we can live life to the fullest in this life as believers. New Testament scholar Ben With- erington says, “Christianity is a faith centered in and on the his- torical fact that Jesus rose from the dead, leaving the tomb empty, and appeared to various of his fol- lowers. It is a faith which believes that this event requires us to in- terpret the cross and the life of Jesus differently, and our own lives differently, from the way we otherwise would. If life has the fi- nal word, then death has no more dominion, and we must live as people of the resurrection.” Sim- ply put, the resurrection is God’s answer to the problem of sin and the culmination of God’s work of redemption that has been under- way since the Fall of humanity. This Easter Sunday, we hope you celebrate with us at Harris Creek, as we encourage one another to live as people of the resurrection! The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central event in human history. New Believer’s Class On April 11, 18 and 25 from 6 – 7 pm, we will hold a New Believer’s Class for children. They will learn what it means to be a Christian and a part of the Church. RSVP to Robin Zapotocky (rzapotocky@ harriscreek.org).

This month, we will cele-brate the central event in the history of the world:

the resurrection of Jesus Christ. While it is important to focus on Jesus’ earthly ministry and sacrifi-cial death, it all would have been in vain if not for the resurrection (see 1 Corinthians 15:17). This is why Easter Sunday is the most im-portant day in the history of the world. It’s the day when human-ity found hope for the future and got a glimpse of what eternity will be like. It’s also the day we are re-minded of how we can live life to the fullest in this life as believers.

New Testament scholar Ben With-erington says, “Christianity is a faith centered in and on the his-torical fact that Jesus rose from the dead, leaving the tomb empty, and appeared to various of his fol-lowers. It is a faith which believes that this event requires us to in-

terpret the cross and the life of Jesus differently, and our own lives differently, from the way we otherwise would. If life has the fi-nal word, then death has no more dominion, and we must live as people of the resurrection.” Sim-ply put, the resurrection is God’s answer to the problem of sin and the culmination of God’s work of redemption that has been under-way since the Fall of humanity. This Easter Sunday, we hope you celebrate with us at Harris Creek, as we encourage one another to live as people of the resurrection!

The staff has begun the initial work of planning for the 2012-2013 year and drafting a new Ministry Plan. In recent years we have held “fireside chats” after the Ministry Plan was released to solicit comments and feedback con-cerning the plans. This year we are taking a slightly different approach when it comes to gathering feedback from the congregation and hopefully these changes will actually help enhance the creation process of the Ministry Plans. We want you to be involved in the beginning stages of planning, so throughout the month of April we are asking you to play a huge part in this process. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or wild-hair ideas for any ministry area at Harris Creek, we want to hear from you. Here are the appropriate people to contact depending upon the ministry area you’re interested in:

The Pomales family has served as missionaries for Harris Creek in the Horn of Africa since the fall of 2008. Tony works as the logistics coordinator for a team of people in a large urban area. His wife Cindy and their three chil-dren, Jacob, Lauren, and Jesse, are connected in many areas of ministry, as well. They have seen a great deal of fruit in the relationships they’ve built and are excited about all that God is doing in the Horn.

During the month of April, the family is ask-ing Harris Creek to partner with them by participating with a worldwide network of 1 million believers to pray specifically for the ad-vancement of the Kingdom of God in the Horn. This region includes 100 mil-lion people in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya and Somalia. Below are ways you can get involved. All month long, Room A2 at Harris Creek will be reserved as a come-and-go prayer room, specifically for the Horn. It will be open to the public Monday - Thursday from 8 am - 5 pm, Wednesday evenings from 6 -

7:30 pm, and Sunday mornings during the 9 and 10:30 am services. You can also join us at the Prayer Night for International Missions on April 18 from 6 - 7 pm. This will be a corporate time of prayer for the Horn and our other missionaries that are currently serving around the world. Finally, please visit www.prayforthehorn.com for creative prayer ideas, background information about the region, and specific prayer requests for people groups and individuals in the Horn. If you have more questions about global missions, please contact our Missions As-sociate, Elise Haykin ([email protected]).

For the month of

March, we budgeted

$67,000 in regular con-

tributions. We ended

the month taking in

$86,770. Expenses for

the month of March

were over budget by

approximately $1,100 primarily

due to expenses associated with

our building expansion planning.

Because there are five Sundays

in the month of April, we have

$90,000 budgeted

in regular contribu-

tions for this month.

As we look forward

to the second quar-

ter, we are excited to

see what exactly God

has planned for Harris

Creek! As always, thank you for

your faithful giving!
