UIW is a complex organism

We have undergone many changes since 1985 …

• This fall, the number of first-time freshmen and transfer students will be greater than the entire number of full-time students 20 years ago

• Enrollment reflects the diversity of Bexar County

• The number of buildings has more than tripled

And many more changes since 1995 …

• More than twice as many students• A greater number of majors• A Ph.D. program• ADCaP and Virtual University• Sites in China and Mexico

Also since 1995 …

• Professional School of Pharmacy• Greater #s of faculty have terminal degrees• Have more than doubled the size of faculty• Purchased SACHS property• Wireless campus

Growth creates many challenges and raises many questions …

- Last year we became the fifth largest private university in Texas; this year we could become the fourth largest

• Manage growth by programs, while developing synergistic opportunities

- Continued financial aid leveraging?

• We want to become academically more selective while maintaining our diversity

This year we’ll focus on these areas:

And that Mission drives Vision

• 2% cost-of-living raise

• SACS re-accreditation announcement in December

• Completion of Math, Science & Engineering Center

• Groundbreaking for the Feik School of Pharmacy in the spring

Looking Ahead …

• Continued growth of Mexico & China campuses

• Open new ADCaP site in the spring to replace the site at the Medical Center

• Continued development of the two high schools

• Resolve the athletic conference situation

• Complete the E-Mail conversion• Greater use of card entry system• Doubling of bandwidth• Moving away from Social Security #s• Wireless access at SACHS
