As a regular reader of The Distributor, you will know

that we scour the four corners of the globe to

bring you quality products. This time we are proud

HOW TO LOOSENA RUSTED BOLT OR

SHAFT WITH Q10EQUIPMENT THAT TYPICALLY LIVE OUTDOORS,

SUCH AS OLD POOL PUMPS, WELL-POINT PUMPS,

ETCETERA, GENERALLY HAVE A RUSTED BOLT OR

TWO. FEAR NOT THOUGH, GRAB A CAN OF Q10

AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO

HAVE IT LOOSENED IN NO TIME.

You will need

• A can of Q10• Appropriately sized spanners• A hammer• An aluminium block or brass drift.• A heat gun• A wire brush

Here’s how to do it...

Use a small wire brush to remove any excess rust on, and around, the bolt/nut.

If possible, position the housing upright and saturate the bolt with Q10, which is a quick-acting, penetrating rust solvent and release agent. The Q10 will run down the shaft onto – and eventually into – the seized area. Leave the bolt for approximately 30 minutes to give the Q10 time to penetrate.

Using your spanner, try to turn the bolt or nut. If there’s too much resistance and you feel the bolt may strip, or round its head, it would be best to apply another dose of Q10 and leave the bolt to stand for another 30 minutes.

If the bolt is still too tight, give the corner of the bolt head a firm tap with a hammer. Be sure to use a piece of aluminium or brass, so that the bolt head doesn’t get damaged in the process.

If the abovementioned procedure still doesn’t work, you may need to use a heat gun to warm and expand the housing around the bolt.

Once the housing is sufficiently heated, give the spanner another try. DIY TIP: You can increase your spanner’s leverage/torque by linking two spanners together.

Once the bolt is loose, be sure to clean the thread with a wire brush and apply a squirt of Q20 to prevent future rust.

You may need to repeat some of these steps multiple times before the bolt/nut finally gives. Sometimes the best solution to a problem is not about what tool you use, but rather how persistent and patient you are.

Thanks to good rainfall and above average crop yields, Prodist has done extremely well with these ranges. While we have been challenged with insufficient stock due to higher demand, our levels have started to improve and as the stock and new items arrive, we are proud to announce the following:

With the decision of our long-term partner, Falcon, to do the marketing and distribution of their own parts, Prodist has decided to expand

this range and to start looking at other brands of slashers to create a one-stop-shop for the OEM or customer wanting to produce or maintain rotary cutters. Due to our strong relationship with key suppliers, we are able to supply our customers the OEM quality they are used to under the Zircon brand.

All the Falcon parts will be marketed as “Falcon replacement parts” and the (H) and (M) numbers will be amended and replaced with a (Z). Non-Falcon parts will remain the same. The new codes will be sent to all our customers with the latest pricing by the end of June. Some changes have been made to blades to be able to identify the Zircon blade. Changes have been made to the marketing strategy of loose components. Due to stock losses of smaller items, kits have been developed for each size rotary cutter for the fitting of blades. This has a benefit to the customer who only has to stock one item and thus makes identification of the correct parts more accurate. Reference charts have been developed and will be supplied to all customers stocking the range. Shelving and display items are also available and

full product support from our internal sales team and regional sales managers for training is readily available.

In addition to the Zircon (replacement parts range) the following will also be available in the next season: The Agrico and Lemken ripper points, blades for the newer Kuhn disc cutters and pick-up tines for the McHale baler. The range of sprayer parts has also been increased and the newest Udor Zetta 350 pump with aluminium exhaust manifold is available.

Nampo Harvest Day

It was good to see the positive sentiment at a busy Nampo 2017 and Prodist would like to congratulate the organisers on their 51st anniversary - we are grateful for the ongoing good work done by Grain SA’s management team. It was an eye-opener once again to see the range of products and

services available to the farmer. The exposure to international companies is proof of the high demand for food security world-wide and allows for technology, improved production and cost effective cultivation methods to be brought under the spotlight.

• It takes the supply from behind a counter to the shop floor (self-help).

• Supply from the shop floor is a lot more cost effective than from “behind the counter”

• The shop floor enhances sales because clients can see the availability and variety.

• Clients save time by not having to stand in queues waiting to be helped.

• Stock takes is a lot faster, therefore more cost effective.• Stock losses could be something of the past, therefore enhancing

profitability.

At Prodist our fasteners are all pre-packed with the part number, description, pack quantities and weights clearly marked on pack labels. In addition all pack size quantities are calculated on typical small store average sales quantities. All fasteners are zinc plated, since 70% of fasteners sold nowadays are zinc-plated. The pre-packed products are also barcoded. More good news for the customer is that the fasteners are priced and sold per individual unit and not per kilogram any longer.

Fasteners are colour coded as follows:

• High Tensile Products : Yellow• Mild Steel Products : Blue• Imperial Products : Green• Screw Products : Red

The pre-packed brand is known as “HANDYLAD” and products packed in this format is available from Prodist. This new colour coded prepacks will be on display at the Prodist Open Day.

Sonkragligte vir die tuin - daar is ‘n reeks dekoratiewe sonkragligte om die regte stemming in enige tuin te skep - van bollard-ligte en dekligte tot balligte met ‘n gekraakte glas-voorkoms wat van kleur verander.

LED Gloeilampe - hierdie omvattende reeks LED gloeilampe sluit in GU10’s, MR16’s, PAR38, buis- en kersgloeilampe. Die reeks kom in E27/E14 (inskroeftipe) en BC (bajonettipe). Alle gloeilampe is beskikbaar in koelwit en warmwit. Die gloeilampe het kleurkodes vir uitstallingsdoeleindes en kopergerief. Die reeks verskaf uitsonderlike helder lig met lae kragverbruik.
