Do it the MegaPixel way! It’s a fact. MegaPixel is invading our streets, banks, malls, buildings, etc. As if life without “Mega” is black and

white! And there is a reason behind that: After the Mabhouh assassination in Dubai, it became obvious that

video evidence in playback is essential in crime scenes and, therefore a high resolution video capture is a must.

Still, there are 3 constraints to growth of the IP Megapixel cameras: transmission, storage and price. For trans-

mission, the massive installed base of coax cable is a huge barrier to IP video systems; therefore solutions from

Veracity like Highwire allow the replacement of analogue cameras without re-wiring, and modules like the Out-

reach which allow to overpass the 100m boundary of traditional Ethernet cabling. For storage and bandwidth, the big file size

was slowing down the acceptance of MP cameras. The latest version of MPEG know as H.264 or MPEG4 Level 10 offers a signifi-

cant stream reduction the previous video compressions with as much as 20 times over a MJPEG, with no sacrifice in video qual-

ity. H.264 has became the de-facto compression standard for the CCTV market, especially for the MegaPixel IP cameras, where

the benefits are even further multiplied. Finally, it’s amazing the see that the price of MegaPixel cameras from reputed US

companies like Arecont started matching those of normal IP and analog cameras. It is the MegaPixel way!

The AV1315 & AV2815 series network cameras are part of Arecont Vision’s full line of H.264 compact megapixel cameras. These fully compliant implementation of H.264 (MPEG 4, Part 10) are capable of sustaining over 80 billion operations per se-cond and maintaining respectively full motion progressive scan 1280x1024 video at 32fps & 1920x1080 video at 24fps. Part of the MegaVideo H.264 Compact Series Line of cameras, it offers bandwidth and storage efficiency of 10X greater on average over traditional megapixel counterparts.

Arecont Vision is proud to debut the world's first 20 megapixel day/night panoramic cameras to the market. The new SurroundVideo® 20 megapixel H.264 cameras provide higher-resolution 180-degree or 360-degree panoramic views and can replace up to 65 conventional cameras. The first 20-megapixel panoram-ic cameras on the market uses four high-sensitivity 5-megapixel sensors, each offering a 2592x1944-pixel view at 11.5fps, for a total image area of 10,368x1944 pixels. Harco Annual Partner Day and the

Arecont Vision Channel Partner Certification Program

This year’s Harco partner day includ-ed Arecont Vision, Raytec and Exacq. Mr. Scott Schaffer and Mr. from Are-cont Vision started the sessions while Mr. Roger Ghostine from Harco Group talked about Optics & Focusing Prod-uct Strategy”. Raytec’s presentation was given by Mr. Steven Carrell un-der the title “Lighting for IP MegaPixel Cameras”. After lunch, live demos were done by the Harco team. The day ended with Mr. Alan Lefford from Exacq who gave audience a glimpse on Exacq Video Management Soft-ware & the new Z Series NVRs. The training was held at Jal tower Hotel on January 19th, 2011. Awards were distributed for the top selling partners

Dubai INTERSEC 2011 Intersec trade fair and conference 2011 welcomed a record of 21,626 trade only visitors registering a 13% increase on last year’s figures. Occupying 8 halls and the Pavilion at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the exhibition featured over 800 exhibitors . Of course and like every year Harco participated through a 54sqm booth featuring live demon-strations. This booth attracted large number of visitors who took a tour throughout the stand and had a look at the displayed Pioneer solutions in CCTV:

Exhibitors from across the globe, live demonstrations, different presentations, many opportuni-ties to expand: those were the main titles of Protex Arabia 2011. The show was held at Jeddah Center for Forums & Events from March 21st till 24th. One of the busiest, Harco Group booth with its live demonstra-tions and dedicated team took visitors on a tour where they had the chance to see displayed latest technologies in the IP Sur-veillance Field.
