S ummer is definitely upon us here at Grand Harbor & whether you are planning an invigorating round of golf, a relaxing day at the Cabana or joining us for a delicious dinner in the Clubhouse, we want your experience(s) to be enjoyable for

you & your guests! I am sure many of you are wondering about the new changes & faces you are seeing around Grand Harbor, but I want to assure you that our ultimate goal is your satisfaction! One of the keys to that is having good people on board, & I am pleased with the dedication both our servers & our Kitchen staff are showing when it comes to making sure you have a pleasurable Sunday brunch, evening meal or just an afternoon cocktail. We are implementing training procedures & processes in order to cut down on wait times for food & our great staff will work hard to make sure everything runs smoothly in both the Clubhouse & at the Cabana. We are looking forward to creating some exciting new menu items while still keeping our tried & true favorites- we welcome your suggestions. We are also planning some fun events over the next couple of months at both the Cabana & the Clubhouse, including live music, fellowship and fun. Take a look at the Calendar included in this issue for our weekly functions as well as several new events designed to add some spark to your summer! If you can’t reach me, be sure to con-tact Julene Fisher, the new Assistant Club Manager at 543-2255 & between the two of us we will do all we can to help you! Hope to see you around!

H ad an enjoyable time and a good turnout and we were pleased to show off our beautiful course at the Festival of Flowers Golf Tournament a couple of

weekends ago—glad to see some of our own out on the course & especially pleased with the 1st & 2nd place wins in the Senior Division—David Rohan came in first with Jim McDaniel following at 2nd! Congratulations guys! We had beautiful weather for the 4th of July Flag Tournament with over 100 golfers enjoying a shotgun start—the burgers, hotdogs, brats & BEER were a big hit too! We continue to plan events for all of our players and hope that you will take advantage of these—my staff and I are always open to suggestions and would love to see some new faces taking up the sport...just call the Pro Shop at 543-2000 to schedule les-sons—you won’t regret it! Have to say congratulations to our own Andrew O’Dell who recently passed his PAT (Playing Ability Test) to register him in the Carolinas PGA Section. We are proud of his accomplishments and glad to have him on board here at Grand Harbor! David Rohan,

1 (8oz) can tomato sauce 1/2 cup cayenne pepper 2 tsp honey 1/2 tsp cumin 1/8 tsp ground cayenne 1 Whole Fryer Chicken cut into pcs

Mediterranean Potato

Salad 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 Tbsp unsalted butter 4 medium potatoes 5 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 tsp dried oregano or Zaatar 1 tsp freshly grated lemon and/or lemon zest 3 Tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice 1 tsp. sea salt 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes Crumbled goat cheese (optional) 3 Tbsp freshly minced parsley leaves 3/4 cup Greek pitted oil-cured olives, chopped

Directions: Heat grill. In a bowl, mash 1/2 cheese into next 4 ingredients. Add 1 tsp. garlic and remaining cheese. Chill. In large saucepan, over medium heat, cook onions and remaining garlic in butter for 2 minutes, stirring often. Add next 5 ingredients. Increase heat to high, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, let simmer 5 minutes. Let cool. In resealable bag, combine chicken pieces and 1/ cup sauce. Mix well. Seal bag, toss gently. Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Remove chicken from marinade. Discard marinade. Grill chicken 25 minutes. Brush with 1/2 cup remaining sauce mix. Serve chicken with bleu cheese mix and remaining tomato sauce mix over fresh vegetables or with Mediterranean Potato Salad (see recipe below).

Directions: Wash and peel potatoes. Cut lengthwise into quarters, then cut quarters in half to make 8 wedges each. In large non-stick skillet, melt butter in 1 Tbsp olive oil. Saute potatoes over medium-high heat until golden, turning to brown both sides (about 10 min). Reduce heat to medium low and cook potatoes until fork-tender. Combine 1 Tbsp olive oil, garlic, citrus zest and juice. Stir into potatoes and simmer several minutes. Transfer to serving bowl. Sprinkle with parsley, salt, pepper and hot pepper flakes to taste. Sprinkle pitted black olives over top. Crumbled goat cheese may be added if desired.

“For several years I tried in vain to sell my waterfront property in Grand Harbor, SC. I contacted Susan Burch and Tom Shea seeking help and assistance. It was less than 2 months and my property was sold and a check was delivered to my home address. As an out-of-state owner, the entire sales process was easy and painless. I didn’t have to make a special trip to Greenwood to close on the property. I can’t say enough good things about the personal care that I received from Susan and Tom! Many thanks!” Ervin C., Huntersville, NC

N inety Six, Greenwood, Abbeville and other cities across South Carolina as well as exciting places in both Georgia and North Carolina offer a variety of fun activities and beautiful sights during the Summer and Fall months! Whether you are looking to go into

town for a quick shopping trip, make a day of it with your picnic basket or even spend the night in a cozy Bed and Breakfast, we hope the information below will help you make your plans! For

more details, you can visit the different city’s Chamber of Commerce websites.

South Carolina Georgia

Greenville—just up the road, Greenville has a lot to offer! A beautiful and fun downtown with the eclectic West End features art galleries, boutique shopping and delectable dining. Paris Mountain, two malls and restaurants galore make this city a great place to visit just for the day or a luxurious long weekend. Only a 45 minute drive!

Beaufort—gorgeous coastal views with quaint shops, pubs, outer islands and great seafood. Just down the road is Hunting Island which plays host to a unique lighthouse and offers some of the best places to find shark’s teeth and popular sea shells. About a 5 1/2 to 6 hour drive.

Hilton Head Island—upscale, classy golf mecca. Beach-front, incredible shopping and challenging golf courses combine to make this a wonderful weekend getaway. About a 5 hour drive.

Helen—A quaint, Dutch-style village known for Oktoberfest is somewhere different to visit that you will remember for a long time to come! Shops and hotels are designed with Dutch style theme, rustic cabins are available right outside of the town proper. In the sum-mer spend the day floating in an inner tube down the river & in the Fall enjoy an abundance of richly colored leaves, smoky Bratwurst and ice cold beer! About a 3 hour drive.

Dahlonega—An old, real mining town where you can actually pan for gold or take a train ride through the moun-tains. About a 3 hour drive.

Pumpkintown—Just like the name says, this town is full of them right around Halloween—they even have a Pump-kin Festival with street vendors and great food. About a 3 hour drive.

North Carolina

Charlotte—A great Metropolitan town, known as the Queen City, is a vibrating center of activity! The NoDa District is full of art galleries, museums and a place called The Dog Bar—dogs can romp around while their owners enjoy a beer at the bar! Great malls for shopping for the latest fashions, plenty of restaurants and bars make for a grand night life and during the day you can visit Carowinds—a smaller version of the Six Flags Amusement park. About a 2 1/2 hour drive.

Asheville—Very hippy, cool city—downtown is full of killer clothing stores, microbreweries, quaint hotels, museums, street vendors, pubs and grills galore! The Grove Park Inn is a luxury 5-star resort and restaurant and their Friday night, all-you-can eat seafood buffet is very upscale, but reasonable. Private floors boast your own wait staff and private guest suites are kept stocked with snacks and drinks. After a day on their exclusive golf course, relax and unwind in the glitzy spa and have a massage or a facial while overlooking the skyline of Asheville. About a 2 1/2 hour drive.

The Outer Banks Islands—on the bluffs, on the ocean, very rustic bed and breakfasts—no traffic on the islands, very se-cluded and reclusive—even wild horses run free. About a 5-hour drive.

Lake Lure—Near Hendersonville (great downtown similar to Greenville, SC), this lake is home to a host of cozy Bed and Breakfasts and one of the resorts is where they filmed the movie Dirty Dancing. Golfing, boating, dining and day trips to Cashiers, NC (especially during the holiday season) make Lake Lure a hit for many. About a 2 hour drive.
