On Sat, Jan 16th, our friend & beloved Sgt@Arms, John Karban, passed away after a lengthy surgery failed to repair the massive damage found in his heart. Although the expected valve & vessel replacements were extensive, the doctors found even more damage to his heart during surgery &, ultimately, part of his heart ceased to function & could not be restarted. He never regained consciousness & slipped quietly away. His absence will be deeply felt by his family & friends, as well as his ABATE family. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, including sweetheart Kelli, who was ever by him thru these tragic events. Our hearts break with theirs at his loss. It's my prayer that those close to him will think about their spiritual position & look to Jesus for answers & come to know Him as their Lord & Savior.

Karban became a mbr since 2005, his first ABATE outing was a group camping trip to Parramore’s Fish Camp for New Year’s. A supporting mbr & much more. Due to personal issues Karban didn’t attend mtg for a few years, but when he joined us again,

it was full force. He became our dedicated Sgt@Arms in 2012-

At the rising of the sun & at its going down, we remember them.

At the opening of buds & in the rebirth of spring, we remember them. At the blueness of the skies & in the warmth of summer, we remember them. At the rustling of leaves & the beauty of autumn, we remember them. At the beginning of the year & when it

ends, we remember them. As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

At the blowing of the wind & in the chill of winter, we remember them

President & Vice President Report Hey all – The new year is upon us & it seems change is not far down the road. In my 20 plus yrs as a mbr of ABATE, I’ve seen

quite a few changes take place. Most for the better. Our mbrship dues have changed for the 1st time as of the Dec state mtg. Annual

dues only increased by $10. LIFE mbrship dues increased from $150 to $600. Sounds kinda drastic, don’t it? However, it was a

much needed change. We need more “drastic” changes if ABATE is going to continue on a forward path. One change needed is

mbrship. Here lately it seems a lot of our “older seasoned” mbrs are passing on. If we don’t get our message on to the younger riders & get some younger mbrs our organizations is going to

literally die. Think about it, next time you run across some younger riders. Hope everyone had a safe & happy New Year. See you at

the next general mtg. Till then ride Safe, Ride Free, Griz

PRESIDENT: William “GRIZ” DEAVER: AWARD – MEMBER OF THE YEAR, TO MICKEY”PILGRIM” MEYER VP: Tim “SHORTY” Broom. VET RUN coming up on 1/23/16, Event will be ending there & starts at RAINBOW RESTAURANT, then LITTLE LAKE HARRIS PUB, then VOHHRA THRIFT STORE, then PIRATES PUB & ending at FRANKS. Thank you to Frank’s Place. Last bike in at 4:00 pm, will have drawings, raffles, & music. Still need donations & contributions, hope to see everyone there. SECRETARY: Joyce Sharpe: Minutes from Dec meeting in Newsletter, move to accept by Wolfman, 2nd by Cowboy, passed. Also we have gotten several gift certificates & other prizes for the Vet Run but continue to need more prizes. We need people to help with registration & prizes. Toy Run Pictures are on the Web. STATE REPS: GRIZ & V: REPORT FROM STATE MEETING – LOTS OF CHANGES – Membership increased to $30 per year, Life membership now $600. Patty, State Treasurer has announced she will not run again so we will need to elect in new State Treasurer in June. There will be no Avon Pk, Doc could not come to an agreement with Avon Pk, will try to start a new event for 2017 in Lk Placid. A few miles south of Avon Pk. Tallahassee has been cancelled & the Feb State meeting is to be held in Marion County – Ocala area. Forest Chapter is hosting & has asked for out help. It will be the 2nd weekend in February. Motion by Tuna, 2nd by Vickie to donate $250 to help Forest Chapter with the meeting. Motion passed. As another Fund Raiser for State. Griz suggested an ADULT ONLY party, this is currently being planned for Nov. 5-7 at Peace River Campground in Arcadia. We will be looking for vendors, music, ect. LEGISLATIVE: FRED “FESTER- House Bill 253 passed committee & has now been sent to the Senate. This is the Vulnerable Road Users. Legislature on vacation, Resume Jan12. Federal – Passed 5 year Hwy Bill, waiting for Obama signature. Other items to watch – Ethanol Levels & Gun Control Legislation. Griz brought up Incident in Tavares where woman named Shorty, on trike was hit by a man named David Yost. He had an open container & was driving on a suspended license but was not arrested. If anyone knows the woman who was hurt please let Griz know. SAFETY DIRECTOR: Mickey “PILGRIM” Meyer: We need to schedule some MSAP classes. Anytime-- anywhere. COMMUNITY SAFETY COMMITTEE: BRAT: Absent. ROAD CAPTAIN: Mike “PAINTER” Enko: Word of the Day. CHOPLOGICAL – illogical or spurious argumentation. Anyone interested, several people meeting later at J. B. BOONDOCKERS in Howey. BLOOD CHAIR: PILGRIM; Blood Account # 11076. BILLING REP: Cookie – ABSENT - V – We need to get more advertisers for Newsletter to make it pay for itself. OLD BUSINESS - Generator – still not fixed. Cowboy to contacting someone to look at it. Last yr we contributed monthly to the State for office rent & utilities. Discussion regarding financial status & need to continue to pay this. Motion by Tuna, 2nd by Al that we continue to make this monthly contribution in the same amount at this time. NEW BUSINESS: . Skipper thanked the Chapter for the contribution from the Downed Biker Fund for his accident. GOOD OF THE ORDER: MIL VETS Party 1/9/16, $10 donation includes food. Our VETERANS RUN 1/23. Need everyone to participate. VINTAGE CHAPTER is having a party for their 8th anniversary on 1/30. Anyone interested in attending please contact Shorty or Joyce for info. LLOYD spoke about the problems VOHHRA had with the City of Eustis & the good outcome. Gene- from the DAM SMOKER is on a Heart Transplant list. 50/50 & drawing. Everyone who participated in the Christmas Day activity had a great time. Breakfast by Jane & Gene then a Great Ride to the

forest with a couple of stops for food, 14 bike & 2 cars went. BIG THANKS TO DIANE & JORDAN & TO FRANKS PLACE FOR TH CHRISTMAS PARTY. It was a HUGE success.

A mother-in-law stopped by unexpectedly at the recently married couple's house. She knocks on the door, then

immediately walks in. She is shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I'm waiting for Jeff to come home from work," the daughter-in-law answered “But you're naked!" the mother-in-law exclaimed. "This is my love dress," the daughter-in-law explained. "Love dress? But you're naked!"

"Jeff loves me to wear this dress! It makes him happy & it makes me happy." The mother-in-law on the way home thought about the love dress. When she got home she got undressed, showered, put on her best perfume

& expectantly waited for her husband, lying provocatively on the couch. Finally her husband came home. He walked in & saw her naked on the couch. "What are you doing?" he asked “This is my love dress," she replied.

"Needs ironing," he says" "What's for dinner?

Christmas Day ride, Dec 24th, what a beautiful day. We started off at Shortcakes for breakfast before heading towards Cactus Jack’s – with a 1st stop at the Moose – 14 bikes rode that day.
