Ghoulish Fun for Everyone

Oogie Boogie takes on the Disneyland® Resort“Bug out” with the master of mayhem and celebrate the season of tricks and treats at the Disneyland® Resort from September 15 to October 31.4

As Halloween creeps closer at the Disneyland® Resort, there’s a new baddie taking over Disney California Adventure® Park. It’s Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The slithery bag of badness has commandeered the entrance to the Park, where a 30-foot-tall moon hovers above and bats fly from the branches of an enormous Oogie-Boogie-shaped tree whose twisted tendrils crawl over the turnstiles.

Stroll along Buena Vista Street, taking in the themed Halloween window displays as Halloween music weaves a mysterious spell around you. At Carthay Circle Theatre, trees are illuminated with an eerie orange glow near the fountain, which bubbles green water.

A word of caution—watch out for a huge statue of the Headless Horseman, with a steam-snorting horse and blazing pumpkin head in front of Elias & Company. But don’t let him deter you from shopping in the store and using your savings of 10% off select merchandise purchases of $50 or more.5

At Cars Land, Walt Disney Imagineers have obviously had way too much fun helping Lightning McQueen, Mater and their pals prepare for the holiday. “The entire Radiator Springs gang has decorated their own area for Halloween using the automotive gadgets they have around—just like they do for Christmas,” says Charlie Kowalski, Art Director, Disneyland® Resort. Giant spiderwebs made of chain are infested by

spiders created from hubcaps. Mater has dressed up as a vampire and turned Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree into Mater’s Car Graveyard Jam-Boo-Ree. At the Cozy Cone, the big orange traffic cones have been transformed into Jack-a-Cones. Lizzie, self-proclaimed scary witch of Cars Land, can be found stirring up a “ghoul-ant” brew to bring

cars to life. It seems to be working as a 1930s roadster buried in Lizzy’s yard rises from the ground, with radio blaring and lights flashing. “We call it a ‘Zoom-bie’ mobile,” jokes David Caranci, Manager, Creative Development, Disneyland® Resort.

Even Cadillac Range has changed colors, going from red and gold to purple and green. “The entire land will have a different feel,” Caranci says. “It’s very unique and immersive.”

Oogie Boogie also makes his dastardly appearance at Disneyland® Park, and this time he’s fiendish with food. This year, the famous gingerbread house in Haunted Mansion Holiday features a 7-foot-tall cookie in the shape of Oogie Boogie peering into a gingerbread house crawling with giant gummy worms, spiders, scorpions and bugs. Want to add some “eww” factor to your own Halloween décor? Check out the 18-inch-tall version of the gingerbread house. It comes pre-constructed so all you have to do is have fun decorating it! Disney Villains Make the Scene

SPELLBINDING ENTERTAINMENT During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Disney Villains come out to play! “Halloween is their favorite time of year,” says Denise Case, Show Creative Director. “So naturally, they want to be part of the celebration.” Look for them in Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade which includes over 120 performers and Characters, including 11 who can only be seen this time of year in the parade.

If you love to experience the Characters up close and personal (and who doesn’t?), the Party is the perfect time to trade hugs (if you dare) with Lots-O’-Huggin’ Bear, Cruella de Vil, Jafar, Gaston and more.

Take time from trick-or-treating to catch the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular shown several times nightly during the Party. The 20-minute musical show stars the three bewitchingSanderson sisters, brewing a cauldron of spells and inviting Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent, Jafar and other Villains to come by for some mischief making. “It’s a fantastic show,” says Gene Harding, Producer. “Hocus Pocus is one of Disney’s most popular Halloween films, and our show has been a huge hit with Guests.”

Harding also suggests dropping by the Rocket Tower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland for the “Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball” where the Characters from Disney•Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. mingle and rock out with kids and families.
