Scott & the Jazz Cats will be playing at the American BanjoMuseum for their Krewe de Banjo Mardi Gras Party.

Scott & the Jazz Cats will be bringing their hard swinging NewOrleans Style Jazz to the American Banjo Museum in OklahomaCity for their big Krewe de Banjo Mardi Gras Party andFundraising Event on February 6, 2016. The band will featureScott Whitfield on Tenor Banjo, Rodney Booth on Trumpet, JimBrimer on Clarinet, and Drew Phelps on String Bass. The JazzCats will perform from 6-9 pm. The American Banjo Museum islocated at 9 E. Sheridan in the Historic Bricktown District ofOklahoma City.

The Melting Pot in Bricktown will also be offering a Mardi Grasdinner and drink special for everyone attending the eveningsevent.

Scheduled Music Lessons and Your Teacher's Time

When you go to the store and buy groceries, you may purchase something that doesn’t getused. Days or weeks later, you end up throwing it out. You don’t get a refund from the grocerystore for unused merchandise.

Items like clothing are durable goods, meaning that can be returned and then be resold at theoriginal price.

Music Lessons are non-durable goods. Once the teacher’s Monday time slot at 3:30 is gone, theteacher can’t turn around and sell it again.

When a teacher is asked to reschedule a lesson, they often agree to move the lesson to a timethat doesn’t suit their schedule in order to please their students. Teachers who are “nice” in thisway often in the long run end up exhausted and feeling exploited. ScottSound Music has initiated a great solution to many of the makeup lesson issues. TheMaster Makeup Classes are a way of giving our students access to their teachers and working insome make up time. The Master Classes are a fun approach to teaching and our students reallyenjoy them.

Please remember to call 24 hours in advance to cancel your lesson, and to ask about the MasterMakeup Class schedule for your instrument and sign up for a class.

Remembering Glenn Frey

Born November 6, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, Glenn Lewis Frey was an American singer,songwriter, producer and actor, best known as a founding member of rock band the Eagles.During the 1970s, Frey played guitar with the band, as well as piano and keyboards.

While Glenn Frey's name is inextricably woven into the historic west coast rock and roll band,The Eagles, with their silken vocal harmonies and country rock influences, his roots are in atotally different location with its own culture and assuredly its own music scene, the city ofDetroit. Known not only for the powerful Motown axis, but also for many successful rock bands. Motor City was also the launching pad for Frey's own highly successful career as songwriter,singer and bandleader.

In the fall of 1971, Frey, with Henley, formed The Eagles, a band that would pioneer a new kindof mellow, harmonic California sound and genre, thanks not only to unique songwriting from bothFrey and Henley, but also to the advent of rock without a hard edge, and a rock style that was toremain in the top ranks of contemporary music makers virtually as long as it wished. Freyassumed leading roles and songwriting credits on such legendary Eagles successes as "NewKid in Town," "Lyin' Eyes," and lead vocals on "Take it Easy" (a song co-written with friendJackson Browne) and "Tequila Sunrise."

During the '70s heyday of The Eagles, Frey also enjoyed a writing credit on a number of thegroup's most memorable hits, including, "Best Of My Love," "Desperado," "Hotel California," "ICan't Tell You Why," "Life in The Fastlane," "One Of These Nights," "Sexy Girl" and "The OneYou Love."

When The Eagles disbanded in 1979 in the wake of the album, The Long Run, Frey's solo careertook off. He recorded No Fun Aloud in 1982, which in turn spawned a pair of single hits, "I FoundSomebody" and "The One You Love." Next came the album The Allnighter, which included whatwas to become yet another hit single, "Smuggler's Blues," (later inspiring an episode of the hittelevision series, "Miami Vice," in which Frey also guest-starred. His acting credits following the"Miami Vice" debut also included appearances on such television productions as "Wise Guy,""South of Sunset," and "Nash Bridges." Frey also appeared in the smash motion picture hit,"Jerry Maguire," as an NFL football team's general manager where he worked opposite TomCruise and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

On the music side, Frey has always remained extremely active and in 1985, he enjoyedparticular success with his top 10 hit, "The Heat is On," from the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphycomedy, "Beverly Hills Cop." His next contribution to the "Miami Vice" soundtrack, "You BelongTo The City," also achieved blockbuster status, just missing the number one slot.

In the mid-’90s, following his own CD, Glenn Frey Live, he joined the phenomenally successfulEagles "Hell Freezes Over" tour, and later formed his own record label, Mission records, withattorney and friend, Peter Lopez.

Glenn left us on January 18, 2016 in New York City. He was 67 years old. It's Your World Now -Glenn Frey tribute.
