HAPPYBIRTHDAY
MARCYPARKER!
After receiving little to no rain all Winter, it was nice to see fairly prolific Spring rains roll in just as the tender green
shoots emerged from their long Winter’s nap. So far we are off to a good start with strong Spring growth, ample moisture in the soil and beautiful sunshine. It is still too early to know how good of a vintage it will be, but we all have our fingers crossed.
In the winery, we have been busy topping and racking all of the new 2011 red wines, as well as blending and bottling a lot of the 2011 white wines. The 2011 Chardonnay is looking to be an excellent vintage for Chardonnay, with bright, fresh aromatics, rich, round mouth feel with refreshing, clean acidity. The 2011 Viognier has beautiful perfumed aromatics with flavors of ripe honeydew melon, honeysuckle and citrus. The 2011 Parker Family Reserve White Wine is a selection of the best barrels from all of the white wine varietals grown on the Rodney’s Vineyard and combines the best elements of Viognier and Chardonnay while adding the nuance and complexity of Marsanne and Riesling. It is a truly unique and enjoyable wine! I hope you enjoy our exciting, refreshing white wines with the warmth of Summer and your family and friends.
Cheers!

Blair FoxO n March 18th, our family gathered together to celebrate Marcy’s birthday. Many of Fess and Marcy’s close friends
were there to wish Mom a happy 84th birthday.
The afternoon was filled with great friends, good food and a little Fess Parker wine for good measure. We finished the afternoon with Bill Powell on the piano and a few songs from Mom and several others in attendance. Happy birthday, Mom, from the Parker/Snider crew!
13th Annual Release day is just around the corner, and it’s looking to be one of the best ever. I look forward to seeing all of you soon!

PRESS
As seen in the April 2012 Edition
93 pts/Editors’ Choice – 2010 Viognier, Santa Barbara County“Tremendous honeyed richness in this Viognier, yet as sweet as it tastes, it finishes dry, a magical trick only a great wine can accomplish. Shows all the exotic tropical fruit, wildflower and spice flavors you could ask for in a California Viognier, and never loses its vitality.”
92 pts/Editors’ Choice – 2009 Syrah, Santa Barbara County“Run, don’t walk, to get this wine. It’s wildly good for the price, offering powerful yet controlled black cherry, tea, bacon and black pepper flavors that are wrapped into smooth tannins. Production was 2,061 cases.”
90 pts – 2010 Bien Nacido Vineyard Chardonnay, Santa Barbara County“High acidity and ultraripe fruit, in the form of pineapples, mangoes, pears and lemons, give this Chard a rich, exotic taste. New French oak adds the perfect touch of buttered toast. It’s an impressive, intense young wine of high pedigree.”
89 pts – 2009 The Big Easy, Santa Barbara County“Flamboyantly ripe raspberry, cherry and blackberry fruit marks this Syrah, a blend drawn from several vineyards throughout the county. The wine contains smaller amounts of Petite Sirah and Grenache, giving it a rich, tannic complexity.”
88 pts/Editors’ Choice – 2010 Riesling, Santa Barbara County “With some residual sugar, this lovely Riesling is off-dry, but the sweetness is balanced by refreshing acidity. The citrus, tropical fruit, honeysuckle and spice flavors are delightful.”
As seen in the April 2012 Edition
92 points – 2010 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay“Here’s a steal: a cool-vintage chardonnay with flesh and zest. There’s a saline, gamey note that brings the flor of Fino Sherry to mind, an earthy undertone to balance the sweet kumquat and tart grapefruit pith flavors. Serve it with chicken braised with fennel and mushrooms.”
