Fr Cassian Folsom will be visiting Charlotte, NC on 29
June, the Feast Sts Peter and Paul. There are two public
events related to this visit:
1. Solemn High Latin Mass: Solemn High Mass will
be at St Michael’s in Gastonia, 29 June, at 2p. All are
invited.
2. Reception: “ Norcia Night”: from 7-9p at St Ann’s
Catholic Church (Allen Center) the “Friends of the
Monastery of Norcia” will be hosting a “Norcia
Night” and all are invited to attend. The evening will
include sampling their monastic brew, enjoy Italian
inspired Hors d’oeuvres, and hear an update on the
monks. The evening will end with Compline chanted
as the Monks of Norcia pray each night. RSVP is

Happenings & Needs
Catholicism: The Pivotal Players showcases a handful of
saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only
shaped the life of the Church, but changed the course
of western civilization. Come learn about St. Francis
of Assisi, St Thomas Aquinas, St Catherine of Siena,
Bl John Henry Newman, GK Chesterton, and Michel-
angelo. Journey with Bishop Barron to explore the
lasting influence of these Pivotal Players. Our 13-
week parish journey will be on Thursdays at 7p in the
Middle School Building beginning 13 July. Study guides
are $20 each and will be available at the first session.

Join other women in all states of life (married, single,
mothers, grandmothers) and together unpack who
we are uniquely created to be. Discover the
“feminine genius.” We will meet on Wednesdays at
7p in the Middle School Building, beginning on 12 Ju-
ly. For our first study, we will begin with St. John Paul

Author, Speaker, and Televi-
sion Host, Joseph Pearce, will
give a lecture "Unlocking the
Catholicism of The Lord of the
Rings" on Saturday, 5 August, in Croghan Hall. We
will have a reception at 6p where you can mingle
with others and the lecture begins at 7p. Join us
for an exciting evening of learning about one of the
greatest literary works of our time.

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our Lead
Lector, Bob Mauritz. Bob and his family will be mov-
ing to Beaufort, SC. They will be missed! Thank you
to Michael Thompson who will be replacing Bob as

We are in search of volunteers for teaching Reli-
gious Education for the 2017-2018 school year.
Training will be provided along with curriculum re-

St Josemaría Escriv ’s (founder of Opus Dei) Feast
Day Mass with veneration of his holy relic to follow
will be Monday, 26 June, at 6p. There will be a re-
ception after in the PAC. All are invited.
Registration forms for 2017-2018 Religious Educa-
tion are available now. Registration fees are $40 un-
til August 1 when they go up to $50. Forms are
available in the church office and on the website.

Happenings & Needs
dribble for destiny is 10-13 July for ages 6-13.
Camp includes ball dribbling, passing, shooting, ball
handling, contests, daily devotions, videos, snacks and
full court play. An awards ceremony is 13 July at 11a.
Cost is $95 and includes a t-shirt or ball. Registration
forms are in the parish office and on the website.
vacation bible school is 23-28 July with Totus Tuus
from the Diocese of Charlotte.
Grade school program runs Monday-Friday, 9a-
2:30p (students bring bag lunches from home)
Junior and Senior High School program runs
from Sunday to Thursday, 7-9p.
Cost is $20 per child, with a family maximum cost of

free basketball clinic Basketball Clinic is for rising
K-5-8th grade boys and girls. Prince of Peace Church
League Coaches will be offering free basketball clinics
(open to all levels) for any child interested in Church
league basketball in the Fall or anyone who just wants
to be introduced to basketball. The clinics will start
Tuesday, 18 July, in the PAC from 5.30-6.30p for ris-
ing K-5-3rd graders and on Thursday, 20 July, 5.30-
6.30p for rising 4th-8th graders. The clinics will con-
tinue on Tuesdays, 1, 8, & 15 August and Thursdays,
27 July, 3 & 10 August.
Practice will begin Monday, 31 July, from 7-9p. Games
will start after Labor Day, 11 Sept, and run through
