MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE HALL! As the year ends, we are reminded how much we have to be thankful for in our lives. Here at the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, we are very thankful for our members of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame family. With your support, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame has experienced a great amount of success within the last year. With our many relationships throughout the state of Tennessee, we've had the great opportunity to support our youth. The “Champion Within” educational program was experienced by more students than ever before and we were fortunate enough to provide partnering opportunities for Back Field in Motion, the Boys & Girls Club and Children Are People, Inc. We also awarded the first two Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Jeff Byrd Memorial Scholarships. The Spring recipient went to Tiffany Baines (King University) and the Fall recipient, Jeremy Bales (Lee University,) two well deserving Tennessee college students. Our 2013 Induction weekend was truly a festive time! The weekend kicked off with the starting Reunion of Champions reception on Friday evening, hosted by Sam Bartholomew and Adams & Reese law firm. Saturday started with the “Champion Within" luncheon, honoring nine outstanding individuals. The luncheon keynote speaker was Mr. Fred Bailey, the founder of Children Are People, Inc. and featured the Courage Award Winner Peggy Michaels. Saturday evening was a gala event, for the 2013 Inductees and Honorees. Please save the date for the 2014 Induction Weekend, May 16 & 17, 2014. The 2014 class is truly special. For those of you that missed our Mason Rudolph Golf Tournament this year, it was a day to be remembered. The weather was perfect and we had a wealth of celebrities on the course. We appreciate the great group of players and celebrities who sheared their day with us. We held a press conference before the tournament where Hope Hines was gracious enough to emcee the announcement of our 2014 inductee class, without knowing he was one of the members of the class. What a great surprise and well deserved moment for Hope. This year our Board of Directors has been outstanding in their support and involvement in the Hall and all of our events. With the leadership of our president, Chris Massaro this year has been most successful. With their continued commitment in 2014, we are assured even greater success. We would also like to thank our Inductee Council for their support and Council Chairman, Sam Barthlomew for his leadership and dedication to the Hall of Fame. In January, the council will assist the board in our selection of our award recipients who will be recognized at our "Champion Within" Luncheon during the Induction Weekend. We are very excited to be a part of the NCAA Women's Final Four in April 2014 and to host the International Sports Heritage Conference in October 2014. The new feature exhibit for these events will be one honoring the great Pat Summitt. We will also have several special functions during the Final Four - more details to follow. All of these accomplishments at the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame would not be possible without your commitment in the past and your continued support in the future. I consider this great organization and each of you a blessing. May you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy prosperous New Year.
