ABSENCES Regular attendance is essential to your child’s success in school. If your child will be absent from school, please notify the school by telephone. The procedure is as follows: The evening before or the morning of the absence (no later than 9:30 a.m.) the parent/guardian should call the school office at (209) 576-4841.

Please state the student’s full name, teacher/grade, and the reason for the absence.

For absences longer than one day, the parent/guardian should call the attendance line for each subsequent day.

If a parent/guardian does not contact the school, office staff will call to verify the child’s absence. If school personnel cannot reach a parent/guardian to verify the absence during the day, an auto-generated phone dialer message will be sent in the evening.

If the absence has not been verified by phone, the parent/guardian should send a note explaining the reason for the child’s absence within three days of the student returning to school.A note from the doctor is needed for communicable diseases, a prolonged illness, or an injury. When returning to school, if a student is to remain indoors for more than a day or two or if a student may not participate in usual school activities, a note from a doctor is required. Excused absences are only permitted for illness, medical appointments (with a doctor’s note), and death of immediate family members. Please refer to the Student Conduct Code for more information.

Only when your child is running a fever, has a contagious illness, or is too sick to get out of bed should he/she be kept at home. Please attempt to schedule all appointments during non-school hours. A student who has been absent from school for more than two (2) days is required to make up all classroom work. The responsibility for requesting missed work lies with the student/parent. The teacher will determine the length of time the student has to make up work.

INDEPENDENT STUDYIndependent Study provides a means to prevent gaps in a student’s school program if he/she is absent from school for a minimum of five or a maximum of 20 school days.

The following are guidelines for Independent Study:

Parent may be required to meet with the principal or principal’s designee to review student’s attendance history and academic standing (students with poor attendance or failing grades will not be approved for Independent Study);

At least five (5) days prior notification;

Parents must come to the office to complete contract forms;

Students must be out of school for five (5) consecutive days or more;

Prepared assignments will be given to the students. Completed assignments are due in the school office the first day the student returns;

Page 5: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

5

Students on Independent Study will receive credit for their work provided they have completed all assignments according to the Independent Study contract. In addition, their days of absences while on Independent Study will be excused;

Students who are absent due to Independent Study are not eligible for perfect attendance awards.

ATTENDANCE

Please note that in order for students to be recognized for perfect attendance, they may not have any tardies.

Semester Perfect Attendance Guidelines:

A student has to be enrolled within the first two weeks of the semester and must have perfect attendance from that date until the end of the semester.

A student who is absent due to Independent Study is not eligible for perfect attendance awards.

A student who has any tardies is not eligible for perfect attendance awards.

Year End Perfect Attendance Guidelines:

A student has to be enrolled within the first two weeks of the second semester and must have perfect attendance from that date until the end of the school year.

A student who is absent due to Independent Study is not eligible for perfect attendance awards.

A student who has any tardies is not eligible for perfect attendance awards.

Truancy/Unexcused Absences:

Absences which cannot be verified will be considered truant/unexcused. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide an explanation of a student’s absence either by telephone the day of the absence or by note upon the student’s return to school.

Tardiness:

Tardies are disruptive to the classroom and also have a negative impact on children’s educational progress. Students are expected to arrive at school on time every day. Students arriving at school after 8:45 a.m. (morning kindergarten), 8:55 a.m. (1st-6th grades) or 11:40 a.m. (afternoon kindergarten) should report to the office to get a tardy slip.

Students who are tardy will not be permitted into their classrooms without a late slip.

Students will not be considered tardy if they arrive late due to delays by the school bus.

The first two hours of the school day are reserved for reading instruction. If it is necessary for your student to see a doctor or dentist during the school day, please try to schedule medical/health appointments after 11:00 a.m. Please keep in mind that math and reading instruction taught through science and social studies curriculum continue throughout the school day. Whenever possible, late afternoon appointments outside of the school day are always encouraged.

Page 6: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

6

The school district does not recognize car problems, parental appointments, oversleeping, and other such explanations as excused reasons for tardies. A doctor’s note is required to verify medical appointments in order for tardies to be excused. Please plan ahead to ensure that your child arrives at school on time each day.

Please read the following consequences carefully so that you and your child are aware of the procedures we follow at Lakewood School to promote attendance. These steps are in accordance with the Modesto City Schools Student Conduct Code. Please refer to the Conduct Code for a more detailed explanation of the Modesto City Schools Attendance and Absence Policy.

Less than 30 minutes late (K-6th Grade):

1st – 2nd tardies Recorded in student’s attendance file3rd tardy Letter home from School Records Clerk notifying parents of tardies4th tardy Administrator contacts parent and student may receive detention5th – 6th tardies Referral to Site Attendance Review Team (SART) and student may

receive detention7th tardy and/or Parent may be referred to Child Welfare and Attendance Office successive tardies School Attendance Review Board (SARB).

More Than 30 Minutes Late - Truancy:

If the student is tardy in excess of 30 minutes, he/she is truant according to E.C. 48260 and must obtain a re-admit slip from the front office indicating “truancy.”

**Special Note: If your child is attending Lakewood on an Inter/Intra District Permit, the permit privileges may be revoked for repeated absences and/or tardies and your child may be required to return to his/her regular school.

SAFETY

Bicycles, Scooters, SkateboardsKindergarten and first grade students are discouraged from riding their bikes to school because of safety factors unless accompanied by a parent or adult.

Older students may ride bicycles to school with parental permission as long as they park and lock their bikes in the fenced area during the school day. Students should walk their bikes to the sidewalk when leaving school. They should not ride bikes on the sidewalk in front of the parking lot in the drop-off and pick-up zone.

Please discuss bike safety with your child before allowing him/her to ride to and from school. While every effort is made to secure the bike area during the school day, Lakewood School is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes.

Students are not permitted to ride skateboards, rollerblades, or scooters to school or to roll in their heelies while on campus. If brought to school, these items may be confiscated and held in the office until picked up by a parent.LOCKDOWN, FIRE, AND EARTHQUAKE DRILLS:

Page 7: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

7

Students and staff take part in at least one practice lockdown during the year; one fire drill a month; and one earthquake drill a year to ensure staff and students are familiar with safety procedures.

Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance to us. In the event of a lockdown, students will remain with their teacher in class. Parents are not permitted to take students from school until they have been released through the office. Lakewood staff will keep all parents informed of any crisis details/plans if they should occur.

CAMPUS SECURITY/GATESEntering Campus:

Our campus is gated for the safety and security of our students and staff. To gain access during the school day, all visitors must enter through the school office, sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass.

Before school, students must enter campus through the open gates from 8:40 a.m.–8:55 a.m. located near the cafeteria and in front of the kindergarten classrooms. Students are not permitted in the school building before or after school unless part of a club or other supervised activity.

Leaving Campus:

During dismissal, students may exit campus from the front of the school or through open gates between 3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Students may exit the school through the gate in the field at this time. The field gates will remain locked on rainy days.

Community Access:

The front office is open from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year. Alternative office hours are observed and posted during the weeks following the school year and prior to the school year beginning.

Community groups wanting to use the Lakewood playgrounds and access the field(s) will be allowed to do so through our normal facility permit process. Groups may call (209) 576-4029 to obtain permit information. Otherwise, our campus will be closed to the public after 4:00 p.m. weekdays and closed on weekends.

TRANSPORTATION: DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

The following guidelines have been set for safety purposes.

For your child’s safety, it is important that children be dropped off and picked up as close to the start of school and dismissal time as possible.

There will be no adult supervision on campus prior to 8:40 a.m. or after 3:00 p.m.

Page 8: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

8

Arrival - Drop-off: When driving students to school, please drop your child off in the designated drop off zone on the street in front of the school. Students who walk to school, ride bikes, or are dropped off may not enter campus until 8:40 a.m. Students should enter the playground through the outside gates.

Dismissal - Pick-up: Students are expected to go straight home after school – they are not to wait around for brothers or sisters who may be participating in after school activities.

Prior to the dismissal bell, adults are not permitted to walk through the halls without a pass.

When picking up students, please be prompt. School ends at 3:00 p.m. on regular days and at 1:40 p.m. on minimum days.

Children must be picked within 15 minutes of dismissal time. Parents may wait in the grassy area outside the kindergarten classrooms, in the front foyer, or in the park to meet children at the end of the day. We have adult supervision at the park and in the grassy area by the kindergarten classrooms. Parents who are unable to pick their child up within 15 minutes of dismissal can pick their child up at the park where we have supervision. Children will not be allowed to remain in the front foyer of the school unsupervised. Children in the front foyer after school will be directed to go outside to wait for parents.

Parents who repeatedly pick their child up late will receive a letter and/or phone call from the principal to discuss dismissal and pick-up procedures. Repeated and/or extreme cases of late pick-up may be referred to the Child Welfare and Attendance Office or the Modesto Police Department.

Early Check Out:

Students will be released to parents or their representative during the school day only through the school office. Students will be released only to adults listed on the Emergency Card. Please be prepared to show identification. Your child’s safety is our primary concern.

If You’re Going to be Late:

We realize that unexpected delays happen. If you will be late picking up your child, please call the school office, (209) 576-4841 by 2:30 p.m. to allow ample time for the staff to get a message to your child’s teacher. The end of the day is a busy time for students, teachers, and staff.

Traffic:

Please note that the following safety expectations are in place to ensure the safety of our students during drop off and dismissal.

Please do not double park on Middleboro, do a U-turn or a 3 point turn in driveways in front of the school.

Students may not walk across the street in front of the school without an adult escort. They are to use the sidewalk and/ or the middle crosswalk through the parking lot. Please do not call to a child to cross in the middle of the street.

Please be courteous toward the school Safety Patrol members. They are volunteering to keep students safe.

Page 9: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

When dropping off and picking up students, please arrange for a regular meeting place. Help us enforce traffic safety.

Parking Lot and Drop-Off Area:

Do not park in any red-zone in front of the school.

In the parking lot, the flow of traffic goes one-way.

The parking lot is closed to the public from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Children must use the crosswalks at all times.

Please do not park and leave car unattended in the white drop off zone in the front of the school.

We have crossing guards who cross students to this location for quick pick up. If a parent/guardian would like to pick up a child at one of the school exit areas, please park in the unmarked curbs on either side of the school.

Please be considerate of our neighbors in homes around Lakewood. Please be mindful that cars are not blocking driveways and children are not walking on plants in the yards.

Kindergarten Drop-Off and Pick-Up:

Kindergarten parents should not park in the red zone outside the kindergarten gate. If a parent/guardian wishes to drop a kindergartener off, park along the unmarked curbs on either side of the campus or in the parking lot if available. The school parking lot is open during the middle of the day for kindergarten, so parents can park in the parking lot for mid-day pick up and drop off.

BUS TRANSPORTATIONTransportation by bus is provided for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade whose residence meets district requirements for bus transportation. Buses are also used for district and school sponsored field trips as well as for GATE students.

Bus transportation for students within the district is provided as a privilege and may be revoked for failure to comply with the rules and regulations.

Transportation guidelines require a parent to be physically present at the bus stop for Kindergarten age children. In the event a parent is not physically at the bus stop to receive a Kindergarten student, the child will remain on the bus and taken back to the school.

It is suggested that a parent accompany children under the age of twelve to and from the bus stop. Parents are responsible for their child’s safety and behavior en route to the bus stop and while waiting for the bus.

Before your child rides the bus, please read and discuss the following bus safety rules:

Waiting for the Bus:

• Arrive at your assigned stop 5-10 minutes prior to pick-up. • Students may only ride on their assigned bus from their

assigned stop. • Wait in an orderly manner, respecting the property of others. • Wait at least ten feet from the road. • Do not push or shove. • Parent must physically accompany Kindergarten students.

Page 10: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

10

While Riding the Bus:

• Obey and respect the bus driver’s directions at all times. • Remain seated and face forward while the bus is in motion. • Do not move around within the bus. • Throwing objects of any kind is prohibited. • Obtain permission from the driver before opening windows. • Hanging out of the window or throwing objects out windows is prohibited. • Keep hands, feet, and objects inside the bus.• Talk quietly: avoid loud, boisterous conversations. • Do not drink or eat food, candy or gum on the bus.

When Exiting the Bus:

• Exit the bus only at assigned stop. • Remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop. • Do not cross the road behind the bus. • Only cross the road after directed to do so by the bus driver. • Never approach or go behind a school bus. • Remember the danger zone – keep at least ten feet from the bus.

School Bus Surveillance Camera Notice:

Students and parents/guardians should be aware that school buses have cameras monitoring bus passengers. The cameras record sound and visual images. Camera recordings are reviewed by school officials for discipline and safety purposes and may be provided to police or used in school disciplinary proceedings. Students should understand that their actions and words while on school buses will be recorded – and that they should have no expectation of privacy when riding school buses. Riding school buses constitutes consent to the audio and visual recordings by the surveillance cameras.

FIELD TRIPS

In accordance with Section 5 of Article IX of the California Constitution, every student is guaranteed a “free public education.”

Field trips provide a “real life” application and enrichment of those things learned in the classroom. As an extension of the classroom, field trips may be planned as part of the school day. When a field trip is planned, parents/guardians will be notified as far in advance as possible and will be requested to sign a Permission Slip in order for their child to attend the field trip. With the exception of field trips sponsored by the Modesto Arts Appreciation Program, no child will be permitted to go on a field trip without parental permission. In some cases, a donation request may be sent to families to offset the cost of transportation. No child will be excluded from participating in a field trip due to an inability to make a donation. However, if a teacher or administrator feels that a student’s behavior may pose a safety concern, the student may be denied the opportunity to participate in the field trip or an adult family member may be required to accompany the student.

The parking lot is reserved for staff, and there is a limited number of spots for parents, and community members who have appointments at the school before, during and after school. Parent/guardians who are chaperones, or who are staying until the buses depart should park along the sidewalk on either side of the school.

Page 11: Handbook€¦ · 28 1st Trimester End/ 1-6 Min. Day NOVEMBER 2016 2 Collaboration Day/1-12 Min. Day 11 Holiday/TK-12 Non-Attendance Day 14-18 1-6 Parent/Teacher Conferences/Min. Day

11

HEALTHVision, Hearing, and Dental Screening:

Kindergarten, first, and fourth grade students will receive a vision screening. Kindergarten, Second, and Fifth grade students will receive a hearing screening.

Family Life:

All 4th – 6th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in the Family Life program. The classroom teacher will make the presentations of Family Life topics. Parents will be given the opportunity to preview the anatomy and physiology films. The Family Life Curriculum is typically taught in May, and parents/guardians may opt their children out of certain parts of the Family Life curriculum.

Immunizations and Physical Exams:

Prior to entering first grade, students are required to present evidence of a physical exam given within the last 18 months.

Before entering 7th grade, sixth grade students are required to have two MMR shots, DTAP, and their Hepatitis B, which is a set of 3 shots that take about 4-6 months to complete. Students that have not started their Hepatitis B shots before the first day of the 7th grade will not be permitted to attend school.

Medications:

Students who take medication during school hours must have a new Medication Administration Request Form completed each school year if:

The student is continuing on the same medication and dosage

There is a change in the dosage

There is a new medication added to the student’s regimen.

INFORMATION CHANGESPlease notify the school immediately if there is a change in address, telephone number, babysitter, or person to contact in an emergency. This information is very important in the event a student becomes ill or injured.

If family information changes, please call the school office so we can update our records. For good communication and student safety, accurate and up-to-date student information is essential.

LOST OR DAMAGED BOOKS

The student is responsible for returning books in good order. Should a book be lost or show evidence of misuse, willful or negligent damage, the student will be charged for such loss or damage.

If payment is not made, or the material(s) is not returned, the student may be ineligible to participate in the End-of-the-Year extra- curricular school activities (including Play Day, special Field Trips, the Promotion Ceremony, etc.).

If the student, parent, or guardian is unable to pay for the lost or damaged books, the building principal shall provide a program of voluntary work for the student.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents are encouraged to volunteer in their child’s classroom. As a valued member of your child’s educational team, parents are always welcome.

Volunteer Organizations:Parent Involvement/Engagement Committee (Lakewood and District)

The Lakewood committee meets one to two times a year in the first part of the school year to review the school’s plan for parent involvement and engagement opportunities.

One member of this committee has the opportunity to be a part of the District level committee. This parent will attend up to three district meetings.

English Language Parent Partnership (ELPP) (Lakewood and District)

This group meets one to two times a year in the first part of the school year to discuss the needs of English Learners and their families.

One member of this committee has the opportunity to be a part of the District level committee. This parent will attend up to four district meetings.

Safety Patrol – Parent Volunteers

Parents may volunteer to assist the student Safety Patrol members in the afternoons. Students help regulate the flow of walking and vehicle traffic, the exit gate in the parking lot, and the various crosswalk areas. Please see Mrs. Sharp or Mrs. Ruggieri-Vesey if you are interested in assisting.

School Board Meetings

School Board Meetings are regularly scheduled throughout the year. The parents and the public are cordially invited to attend meetings. Meeting dates and locations are published in the District Calendar of Activities or may be obtained by calling the District Office at (209) 576-4011.

Second Cup of Coffee

These are parent information meetings that will be held at Lakewood a minimum of three times a year. A variety of topics will be discussed. Meetings will be held in the Library at 9:15 a.m. Refreshments will be served and childcare will be provided.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)Lakewood Elementary has a dedicated, active and supportive Parent Teacher Association that strives to support an engaging educational environment for all students. There are numerous ways to volunteer and support our school through PTA functions. M. PARENTS’ ROLE IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTParents and guardians are a student’s first and most influential teacher, and teaching students the value and importance of education begins at home.

Many things can be done at home on a daily basis to help students be successful at school. The activities described below can benefit both older and younger students.

Talk with children about school and everyday events.Read with children, and encourage them to read for fun and discuss what they read.Monitor children’s T.V. viewing and talk with them about the programs they watch.Express interest in children’s school progress.Reserve a time and place for homework and turn off the television.Supervise homework: make sure children have a place to work and that assignments are completed properly.Communicate with children’s teachers about the class homework policy.Provide children with suitable study conditions (desk or table, lights, books, and supplies).Encourage exercise and good nutrition.Encourage children to write.Provide positive learning experiences outside of school, including parks, zoos, museums, libraries, historical sites, and family games.Communicate that education is important and encourage children to do well.Promote good discipline-children do not know intuitively how to behave; parents/guardians must teach them.

N. PARENT VISITATIONS/CONFERENCESParents/guardians are valued members of our students’ educational team and are always welcome.

To assure the integrity of the instructional program and provide for student safety and security, we ask that parents/guardians make arrangements to meet with the teacher at least one week in advance.

If parents/guardians wish to schedule a conference or speak with a teacher, please call the school and leave a message for the teacher to return the call. Teachers can also be contacted via email.

All visitors on campus between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., must sign in at the office before attending any functions, meetings, or other activities.

Parents/guardians will be issued a visitor’s badge, which informs the staff and students that sign-in procedures have been followed and authorization to be on the school grounds has been granted. This requirement is in place to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.

Visitors also need to sign out in the front office when leaving the campus.

If delivering a lunch for a student, please place it on the round table in the foyer. Make sure the student’s first and last name are labeled clearly on the lunch container. Please make prior arrangements with the student when leaving a lunch to reduce interruptions to the classroom.

14

If you have items to deliver to the classroom, please leave them in the office. We will deliver them for you.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (P.E.)

Students in grades first through sixth receive the legal requirement of 200 minutes of P.E. every two weeks. Emphasis at the elementary level is placed on many varied motor activities. Students learn leadership through games of low and high organization. Participation rather than high achievement is stressed at all levels.

PLAYGROUND (RECESS AND P.E.) BEHAVIOR

Playground behavior is expected to reflect the same respect for self and others as is demonstrated in the classroom. Recess and P.E. activities are designed to give students an opportunity to refresh themselves, have opportunities to participate in large group and small group activities and to share and develop friendships outside the classroom environment. For safety and to prevent accidents or injuries, students should follow these guidelines:Listen to and respect the adults on duty. SCHOOL DRESS CODE POLICYDress and Grooming:

Although there is no formal dress code for Lakewood students, we ask that parents monitor student choices each morning. As a general rule, students are expected to wear clothing that is appropriate, clean, and does not offend others.

The Modesto City Schools Dress Code sets standards that promote a positive and safe learning environment for students. Each Site Safety Committee shall regularly review these standards. Appropriate dress for special events will be communicated to parents and students by the school.

In the event that a child is dressed inappropriately for school, and this is rare, we usually call the parent and ask that a proper change of clothing be brought to school for the child. In order to avoid this embarrassment, we ask that you discuss these expectations with your child and support our efforts in this matter.

STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR

The Lakewood faculty and staff are committed to providing the very best learning environment for all children. We constantly strive to create educational and social experiences that foster academic and personal growth for each student.

The goal of our school is to develop self-discipline within each child. Classroom teachers, counselors, administrators, and other support personnel are committed to helping children achieve this goal. Parents/guardians are encouraged to join us in this endeavor.

We believe a positive school climate is one in which everyone, adults and students alike, demonstrates kindness, respect, consideration, and politeness to others. Within such a learning environment, individuals must assume responsibility for their own behavior. Consequently, a consistent system has been adopted to address inappropriate student behavior. It focuses on acknowledging positive behavior and assisting students to think of the consequences of the decisions, or choices, they make daily.

All students are encouraged and taught to be responsible for their own school behavior. Student behavior expectations in the school environment are communicated by the principal and staff during the first week of school and are reinforced throughout the school year.

Modesto City Schools prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying in educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, parental, pregnancy, family or marital status, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

School-Wide Expectations: Lakewood Elementary along with all elementary schools in Modesto City Schools have a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Plan that outlines expected behaviors in common areas within and around the school.

Lakewood fully implements a site specific Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Plan that provides students with explicit expectations in common areas of the school. These expectations are outlined in a school wide assembly at the beginning of the year and are incorporated in follow up conversations within individual classrooms, as well as reviewed by the principal during monthly assemblies. The principal, teachers, and yard duty supervisors all take an active role in teaching students the expectations outlined in the PBIS Plan.

The students recite the Peacebuilder Pledge every Friday and are encouraged to complete praise notes for fellow classmates and “right their wrong” as a part of accepting responsibility for their actions. The following is the Peacebuilder Pledge:

MINIMUM DAYSModesto City Schools has identified specific days throughout the year to be minimum days. These days are detailed on the calendar in the front of this handbook. There are only five days that kindergarten will observe as minimum days. When kindergarten observes a minimum day, the afternoon class comes to school at the same time as the morning class and follows the same start and end times of the morning kindergarten class. Unless it is one of these five days, kindergarten will continue with a regular schedule on minimum days.
