Welcome to the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce Directory.

It has been a very busy and exciting year for Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.

The Hampshire Chamber of Commerce Directory is a wealth of information for any business that wants to flourish and grow. As you will see from the contents, we are constantly reviewing the benefits and services provided to members.

Becoming a Chamber member gives access to an array of services covering every aspect of running your business, from HR support and added employee benefits through to business information and international trade documentation.

With a very comprehensive calendar of ‘Networking’ events, we can provide you with the opportunity to meet businesses of all industry sectors and sizes.

Our Policy and Representation Department through our Policy Committees/Standing Committees enable us to keep members fully upto date about local, regional and national issues that affect them and enable us to lobby efficiently on behalf of members as a wholly independent voice for business in Hampshire.

This directory is a good marketing tool for members to promote their business and to use as a reference guide.

A message from our President

A message from our Chief ExecutiveThis has been a good first year for the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. We completed the legal aspects of the merge in April and have recently restructured ourselves to cut out duplication and strengthen our delivery teams. That in turn has allowed us to concentrate our membership support teams into Wates House in Fareham and Basingstoke. We are now a slimmer and even more effective Chamber.

But it doesn’t end there. In order to be able to respond to the needs of members and the LEPS who both want who want simpler structures, better and more cost effective support and assistance from fewer support organisations we have agreed to work with the Hampshire Enterprise Partnership and Southern Enterprise Alliance to create the ‘Hampshire Business Alliance’.

Each member of the Alliance has particular strengths and skills and although we have remained independent and responsible to our members but we have been able to combine those strengths to give you the members better support products and the LEPs a delivery mechanism that they desperately needed if together we are to deliver the growth this county needs.

The Hampshire Business Alliance will continue to be driven by the needs and aspirations of Hampshire Businesses and with its ‘one stop’ approach will enable us to provide the most cost effective and complete business support service in Hampshire.

Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is proud to be part of this formation for the benefit of members and the business community.

‘Proud to champion local’, Hampshire Fare is the county food group, representing around 200 members in the local food and farming industry. These include producers of food, drink and craft grown, reared and produced in Hampshire as well as hospitality business that sell, serve and promote local food, ranging from pubs, hotels, restaurants and attractions to cookery schools, independent delicatessens, butchers and farm shops.

The PSP Southampton Boat Show and the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show are annual events held in September and January respectively.

The Shows are both spectacular world class events and important sales platforms for the British marine industry which attract visitors, exhibitors and investors from all over the world. Both Shows are organised by National Boat Shows (NBS), a fully owned subsidiary of the British Marine Federation (BMF), the trade association for the UK leisure, superyacht and small commercial marine industry.

The PSP Southampton Boat Show is one of Southampton’s biggest events and takes over the City for a 10 day period, whilst people of all walks of life discover what the marine industry has to offer them. A number of local businesses and enterprises get involved in the Show with 200 exhibitors from the Hampshire area taking a presence.

The 2011 Show witnessed almost 50 World, European and UK product launches and played host to some 580 exhibitors. Visitors were able to climb aboard and explore over 1,000 boats and trial a selection of boats on the Solent for free.

The ever-popular Show marina provided entertainment with a number of feature boats intriguing visitors of all ages. In particular, HMS Bulwark, one of the Royal Navy’s two Amphibious Assault Landing Platform Dock ships paid a four-day visit, while Mike Golding was joined by HRH The Princess Royal to launch his new round the world sailing yacht. Michelin star chef Shaun Rankin gave special demonstrations in the Sea Kitchen Theatre while visitors enjoyed oyster tasting for free as part of The Great British Oyster Festival in association with the Shellfish Association.

The 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show will welcome back the UK boating industry’s finest from 14-23 September 2012.

The Tullett Prebon London Boat Show is an unmissable day out in the capital. The PSP Southampton Boat Show’s sister show at ExCeL London in January offers visitors the chance to view 1000 boats, some 500 exhibitors and the very latest products, equipment and clothing.

Show goers can try out a new sport on the massive Watersports Action Pool. Measuring 70m x 24m the pool is definitely a star attraction giving visitors the chance to take to the water to try a diverse range of activities, or sit back and watch the dramatic action with live demonstrations and professional championships by watersports experts, including canoe polo and stand up paddle board action. World champions and record breakers are also on hand to share their skills with spectators and showcase the full range of watersports on offer.

The immense halls of ExCeL host boats of all shapes and sizes, from dinghies to powerboats and kayaks to sailing vessels whilst the outside docks boast some of the largest boats currently in manufacture. The used boat marina at the Show also displays around 70 used boats for sale.

The 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show runs from 6-15 January at ExCeL London, while the Show the following year takes place from 4-13 January 2013.

As one of the largest regional business networks in the UK, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is also the independent voice of the local business community across the county, representing its views to local, regional and national government on issues of interest or concern.

It is said that a business does not have a vote, but Hampshire businesses can join their active local Chamber of Commerce. British business has always looked overseas for opportunities and foreign trade is vital to the UK economy. In terms of investment, the UK is second only to the USA as the world’s largest investor in overseas markets.

The Chamber has many close working relationships with overseas Chambers and other trade agencies, and works in partnership with Business Link and UK Trade and Investment (the Government organisation which supports UK companies trading internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK)

We facilitate business to business contacts through overseas delegations, networking events, access to International Chamber’s information and outward missions promoting our member’s products and services overseas and developing trading opportunities.

We also provide expert advice on markets around the world, giving our members the opportunity to acquire time sensitive and affordable information tailored to individual needs, including up-to-date country advice, import and export information together with advice on the movement of goods, methods of payment and documentation.

We are authorised by HM Government and nationally accredited to certify Certificates of Origin (European Community and Arab) EUR1 and A.TR certificates, invoices and other documents as required in

International Trade. We also provide services to help with the documentation requirement under Letters of Credit.

The Chamber offers electronic document processing systems, e-Cert and TradeCert. The Hampshire Asian Network, assists Asian businesses from Basingstoke to Southampton, Andover to Portsmouth and beyond.

What’s it all about?Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed by business people with the needs of particular industry sectors in mind. They lead to industry recognised qualifi cations. Apprenticeships are for people aged from 16 and there is no upper age limit.

Age Concern Southampton has been serving older people living in Southampton for over 50 years. We are a well-respected and trusted independent charity, specialising in the business of ageing well.

We offer a range of services and support that that can benefit you, your employees, their families and your business.

As a small charity, we have experienced the full force of government spending cuts and, as a consequence face an even greater need to operate cost-efficiently without compromising on the quality of our service delivery. We are a conservation charity and award winning visitor centre that has for many years worked in the fields of conservation, education, rehabilitation and the research of birds of prey.

We have a bird of prey hospital that treats approximately 200 birds of prey each year; hides to view wild birds in our wildflower meadow; a twice daily Heron and Red Kite feed; and a Vulture Restaurant and keeper's talk.

The Trust is also home to the only public Great Bustard aviary in the United Kingdom, where you can take a rare opportunity to see the world's heaviest flying bird up close!

Wessex Cancer Trust

The Wessex Cancer Trust was established in 1981 to provide relief for those suffering from cancer and their carers, to promote research into the disease and to advance education into its causes, prevention and treatment.

This year is a very special one as the Trust celebrates its 30th Birthday and in that time Wessex Cancer Trust has raised over £20 million. The money raised has helped so many worthwhile projects and, in effect, touched so many people living with cancer locally. The Wessex region covers Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

Wessex Cancer Trust promotes awareness and publishes a series of leaflets covering early warning signs, treatment and advice for patients. The Trust also provides counselling and complementary therapy services. Each year many individuals receive financial grants to alleviate hardship resulting from the impact of cancer on patients and their families.

In addition, the Trust has funded major projects including the Piam Brown Children’s Oncology Ward at the Southampton General Hospital, ground breaking research at the University of Southampton and the provision of mobile breast screening units. Improving care for adults and children living with cancer is the biggest item of expenditure for the Trust.

This challenge adds to the many other projects in care, education and research which the Wessex Cancer Trust are continually working on in order to promote relief and support for cancer sufferers across the Wessex region.
