By PresenterMedia.com
• Hammond High Magnet School is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Hammond High Magnet School believes is important for our students.
• Our Official Status:
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is
designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations
that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and
life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a non-profit educational
foundation, motivated by its mission, focused on the student.
Our four programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help
develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills to live, learn, and work in a
rapidly globalizing world.
What is IB?

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) provides students
with an internationally benchmarked set of performance standards for more than 20 subjects
covering the humanities, sciences, and the arts. To ensure the consistency of these standards, DP
courses culminate in external examinations that are marked by a network of approximately 5,000
examiners worldwide. Each subject has a group of senior examiners who prepare examination questions, set the standard for marking and determine the marks
needed for the award of each subject grade.

The DP is recognized by the world’s premier universities as ideal preparation for success at the post-secondary
level. The DP’s unique core requirements of an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge course and
Community, Action, Service project require students to develop the critical-thinking, research, and independent
learning skills sought by the most demanding admissions departments. Official studies documenting the success of IB graduates at university are available
at www.ibo.org/research.

The IB is committed to supporting the ongoing development of a worldwide professional learning
community comprising internationally minded teachers, school leaders and school administrators. Our professional development offerings encourage educators to create innovative ways of addressing
evolving concepts such as international mindedness and global cooperation by applying their own
individual expertise and personal experiences. The professional learning community provides educators
the opportunity to share these best practices with like-minded colleagues.
