When I became involved in church planting I got the opportunity to travel to several churches around the country that are growing and reaching the people in their community. We got to go behind the scenesand see what the leaders were discussing and what processes they were implementing. There were a few key things that jumped out at each of these churches. The first was that everyone knew WHY they were doing their job. In the past most churches spend a lot of time telling people what their job is and what tasks they need to accomplish to get it done. But few churches allow people to discover their own way to get things done in order to meet the final goal. This is where a church vision is very important. Each task can be measured by a target, rather than just doing things the way theyve always been done. The second thing that is important in church growth is not only having a vision, but setting a process of attaining that vision. For example, the new model is to Reach, Connect, Grow, Servewhich details how we design each area of our ministry to target a specific area. Another area is the use of the people of the church. We recognize people are busy and that your time is important, but you are also vital to the success and growth of any organization including the church. So by implementing the above steps we help to reduce busy work and ad meaning to each task that is accomplished. There are several other steps and signs present in successful, growing churches around the county, but on Jan 19th we will be looking at the above steps in relation to our own committees and ministries. Hope to see you there, Charles www.hamilton-umc.org 615-361-7210

Hamilton Herald PASTOR CHARLES WELCH ANCE

Coming up January 19th we will be having our Church Training

for new committee members, old committee members, and have a

discussion around Hamilton’s vision. When I became involved in

church planting I got the opportunity to travel to several churches

around the country that are growing and reaching the people in their

community. We got to go “behind the scenes” and see what the leaders

were discussing and what processes they were implementing.

There were a few key things that jumped out at each of these

churches.

The first was that everyone knew WHY they were doing their

job. In the past most churches spend a lot of time telling people what

their job is and what tasks they need to accomplish to get it done. But

few churches allow people to discover their own way to get things done

in order to meet the final goal. This is where a church vision is very

important. Each task can be measured by a target, rather than just

doing things the way they’ve always been done.

The second thing that is important in church growth is not only

having a vision, but setting a process of attaining that vision. For

example, the new model is to “Reach, Connect, Grow, Serve” which

details how we design each area of our ministry to target a specific area.

Another area is the use of the people of the church. We

recognize people are busy and that your time is important, but you are

also vital to the success and growth of any organization including the

church. So by implementing the above steps we help to reduce busy

work and ad meaning to each task that is accomplished.

There are several other steps and signs present in

successful, growing churches around the county, but

on Jan 19th we will be looking at the above steps in

relation to our own committees and ministries.

Hope to see you there,

Charles
