Dear Parents/Carer What a great end to a long term. This term the Music/Art/Drama Dept have excelled, starting with the brilliantly designed Christmas cards illustrated by Grey Court students, to the stu- dents participating in the Christmas concert and the OAP party. The choir also went along and sang at Sainsbury's, and then the Grey Court orchestra played at St Richard’s candlelight ser- vice, receiving fantastic feedback. On the sports field our teams continue to dominate. We are so very proud of all our students. Please see full details in the sports section of ebulletin. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Grey Court staff who work tirelessly for our young people. The buzz around the school is incredible. Our ambitions for our young people include every one of them, as we do everything we can to ensure we transform any challenge to an opportunity. The newly formed Parent Association are work- ing really hard, helping out at events and raising money for the school. I would like to thank them for their support to the school. Year 10 have part of their English GCSE on 10th January, so once the presents have been opened and everyone has recharged their batteries, it is important they dedicate some time to their Eng- lish studies. Year 10

Mr. Rhodes : Head of Year The Y10 students enjoyed their celebration assembly. There was just the right balance of fun combined with the formality a celebration assembly requires. Tutor prizes, attendance prizes, performances and the quiz prise were all presented. I was extremely proud of their conduct as was the incoming Phase Leader for KS4. I have really enjoyed working with the year group and would like to wish parents and students a very happy Christmas.

Trip to Kings College

Year 11

Mr. Rhodes : Head of Year

The year 11 students have received the results of their functional skills exam. ICT is extremely important and if students do not leave school with a qualification they will be made to continue the subject in the next stage of their development. Those few students who have not been successful must attend all revision sessions prior to resitting the examination. As you may be aware there is a new Phase Leader for KS4 who starts after the Christmas holidays. I will still be working closely with the students in order to ensure that they are making the required progress. I have really enjoyed this spell as the Phase Leader and would like to thank both parents and students for their support. I hope that you have a restful Christmas and look forward to seeing you at parents evening in the new year.

Grey Court Orchestra performed again on Tuesday evening (18 December), rounding off a busy and successful festive season for the musicians following performances last week at the traditional OAP Tea Party and fabulous Christmas Concert, both held at Grey Court. The Grey Court students contributed festive music at the Carols by Candlelight service in conjunc-tion with St Richards School and Church. Live musical accompaniment from the Orchestra really enhanced the carol singing at this beauti-ful and atmospheric community event. Nick Whitfield, Director for Children and Learning Services for Richmond and Kingston spoke at the service praising Ham schools for their sense of love and community. He also had words of ap-preciation for the ‘fantastic orchestra from Grey Court’! Rehearsals resume next term on Thursdays after school and the Orchestra looks forward to wel-coming players old and new.

I would like to thank all students and staff involved in the Christmas Concert and the OAP Tea Party. All performances were fantastic and I had some very positive feedback from parents and people attending the tea party. The Drama Club Panto - 'We Witch you A Merry Christmas', was a big hit again for the second year running and the Performing Arts group really pushed the boat out with outstanding performances. A special thank you also goes to the Choir who sang carols this week at Sainsbury's in Kingston and the Orchestra who played at St Richards Carol service in Ham. Many thanks to parents too for all your support. A really big thank you to Mr Wells, Mr Robinson, Mr Husnu and Ms Bharmal for all their support and hard work with all the Christmas Events. Notices The Charity Gig/MOGO awards auditions will take place in January for the Gig in March. Get thinking and preparing for your auditions. Details will go up in the music area. Keep your eye on the notice board. Peripatetic Lessons will start in January - please see the music notice board for the first week of lessons commencing Tuesday 8th January 2013. Timetables will go on the website and in the weekly e-bulletin as soon as they are made available from Rich-mond Music Trust.

Thirteen students dressed up in their festive attire to run around a wet and windy Richmond Park. For most people this would have been a miserable experience, but the girls and boys ran in full spirits wishing the passing public a Merry Christ-mas. It has been a fantastic term for the running club and the students have put in a huge effort, meeting every Thursday morning at 7am. Staff v Students NetballStaff v Students NetballStaff v Students NetballStaff v Students Netball Staff 17 : Students 19Staff 17 : Students 19Staff 17 : Students 19Staff 17 : Students 19 Report by Zoe Cramp and Anna MarshallReport by Zoe Cramp and Anna MarshallReport by Zoe Cramp and Anna MarshallReport by Zoe Cramp and Anna Marshall Last Tuesday the anticipation was building as the rivalry between Staff and Students increased. So when the teachers appeared from the PE office in their Christmas fancy dress, there was a roar of laughter from the students. Not distracted by the staff's dress code, we began our warm-up and quickly started the game. The year 9s were to challenge the staff in the first quarter and won the first centre pass. The competitive spirit drove us on to score the first goal of the match. Followed soon after with frequent goals from both sides. The play was clinical from both teams and by the end of the first quarter the year 9s were up by two goals. As the second quarter started, it was the turn of the year 10 and 11s to face the teachers. Even with fierce competition from the staff attack, the seniors managed to keep the score level as the whistle blew for half time. After a team talk and some inspirational advice, the year 9s were back on court and eager to give the teachers a run for their money. Unfortunately the staff played some excellent netball causing us to be down by one before the last quarter. We knew we had to win and with one last push from the senior squad the score line finished 17-19 to the students. Thanks to Miss Noonan and Miss Cully for organising the game and all the teachers who came out in the cold to play. We have hopefully raised enough money to buy net-ball kit for next season so thank you for everyone's donation and support. Note from Miss. Noonan:Note from Miss. Noonan:Note from Miss. Noonan:Note from Miss. Noonan: I would just like to thank all of the staff who supported the netball match: Miss 'Hot Shot' Jackson, Miss 'Dynamo' Blackburn, Miss 'Twinkle Toes' Cully, Miss 'Shot Stop' Bhumbla, Miss 'Unstoppable' Pollard, Miss. 'Slick Pass' Bharmal I would also like to thank all the year 9, 10 and 11 girls for working so hard to collect sponsorship money and for everyone who kindly donated. As staff, we are gracious in defeat (after some questionable umpiring and magical appearance of goals). Thank you all for your efforts this term and I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
