Tagline

The tagline has been positioned on top of the page in capitals letters in an red/orange font . The tagline contrasts well with the black background of the film poster which allows the tagline to stand out .The tagline reads “Terror never rests in piece “ this tagline creates an anchorage with the masthead as we know that during Halloween people dress up as “ GHOSTS and ZOMBIES” which are known to be dead

“TERROR NEVER RESTS IN PEACE “ suggests to the audience that maybe this film is continuous because of its good production so that’s why there more to this film . It also suggests that killers can never not return to finish of their work .Halloween is associated with devilish evil vibes and does who participate in the festival dress up as characters from the dead.

“ The Curse of Michael Myers” has been written in capital letters which catches the attention of the audience straightaway , this tagline has been situated right under the masthead so that the audience notice it more. The tagline has been written in a orange font and the colour orange connotes flames or fire which suggest to the audience that fire may take place in the film. The tile “ the curse of Michael Myers” also suggests to the audience that in the film there will be bad things happen to people the word “Curse” connotes negativity and bad vibes.

Colour scheme Fonts

The poster uses dark colours such as black and blue which connotes darkness dullness and boldness. The colour black links back to the masthead “ Halloween” during the Halloween festival it tends to happen in the night all the participates come out in the night time to “Trick or Treat” one another.

The dark colours also suggests a mystery and that the film isn't a happy love story hence the word “ rest in peace “ death is seen as natural but also negative .

The colour blue blends in with the background colour because the colour black allows the blue to come through and grab the attention of the audience .

The third colour used is white , which again contrasts well with the black background . The white texts stand out on the page and imply to the audience that the text in white is important . White can also connote boldness rather then purity and innocence.

Misenscene/ knife The character on this film poster is holding a knife which

connotes that he is dangerous . It is typical and common in slasher/horror films that the killer always carries a weapon , the weapon example the knife is know as the Freudian which links to the males ( killer) sexual frustration . The facial expressions of the character connote seriousness which implies to the audience that the character is not a man to joke with .

The knife suggest to the audience that the film revolves around danger and people in the film will be killer or hurt . The knife also implies the genre of the film witch is a slasher /horror film .

We see a close up of the character but we do not see the eyes , the eyes are black and bold which suggest to the audience that the killer does not want to be identified it also represents the status and power of the character , also the idea of the eyes being pitch black shows the character distancing him/herself from the audience . This is a typical convention of slasher/ horror film the killer is always on the run and avoids to be seen so they disguise themselves . Disguising themselves links back to the name of the film “ Halloween” because we know that the Halloween festival includes people dressing up with masks and gowns and we do not know who is behind the costume .The characters face/ mask is in blue and blue connotes coldness . The misenscene of the characters face connotes part of his personality it connotes that he is a cold blooded insensitive bold person who is out to kill or hurt people with no remorse

Layout

The layout of this film poster is very

straightforward but eye catching. Not

only does the colour scheme catch

the attention of the audience , but the

small piece of text on the page . The

text is displayed neatly under each

other, this brings attention to the

background image as it is very clear

to see . The text has been separated

from the top page to the bottom and

is well centred aligned to ensure that

the audience grasp more attention to

the character being presented .

The layout is fairly common and

subverts to the conventions of film

posters which are slasher/horror

genre . With the image being central

and the main focus of attention.

Billing Box /credits

There is a list of credits presented on the bottom

of the film poster . They have been listed at the

bottom of the page to ensure that the audience

know who the producer , music composers and

directors are . Because the credits are situated

at the bottom of the page it will be the last thing

the audience read and remember . Credits are

important pieces of text for film posters because

it is informative to the audience it allows

audience to know who is behind the making of

the film , example there maybe a well known

producer in this film which attracts audiences to

watch it because they have seen his/hers film

before .

The “line coming soon” implies to the

audiences that the film will be broadcasted

out publicly on the big screen example at

the cinemas . The line has been written in

block white to emphasise its importance ,

it is the last piece of text so it ensures that

the audience are aware that the film will

soon be out to watch.
