Halloween Decoration Ideas for Your Car

It’s that time of year again. Both kids and adults are eating large amounts of candy, watching scary movies, carving pumpkins, and of course, searching for the perfect Halloween costume. It’s a time to be festive and creative. Many people have lots of fun decorating their homes, both inside and out, for Halloween. Why not take it a step further and decorate your car too?

Since your car is mobile and needs to get you from A to B on a daily basis, it’s a bit trickier than decorating your house, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with it! There are two ways to decorate your car for Halloween. The first way is so that the car can still be used. The second way is to use it more as a prop, probably only on Halloween night.

If you’re looking to drive around a festive vehicle throughout the month of October you have a few options that range from cute to gruesome. The cute route involves turning the front of the car into a recognizable face. This can be done by clipping props to the top of both front windows that stay in place as long as the window is up. Think whiskers, ears, antlers, antennae, horns, etc. You can then attach something that resembles a nose or mouth to the front where the license plate is located. Another cute way to decorate your car for Halloween is to purchase Halloween themed window decals or car magnets. Before putting the magnets all over the car, make sure that they are easy to remove and won’t ruin the paint.

If you’re looking to go the more gruesome route, there’s always the old “dead guy in the trunk” trick. You can place bloody arms or legs sticking out of the trunk so that it looks like you’re driving a dead body around. You need to be careful with this one. Don’t be surprised if your suspicious looking car gets reported to the authorities and you end up getting pulled over! Another option is to drive around with some creepy passengers. You can either make or buy skeletons, mummys, scarecrows, witches, etc. and prop them up in the backseat, passenger’s seat, or both. You’ll definitely get some strange looks as you drive around town. Who knows, you may even get away with driving in the HOV lane!

If you only want to decorate your vehicle for the big night, there’s a lot more that you can do with it. You can cover it with cobwebs and spiders or turn it into a mini haunted house. This works especially well with trucks that have an open bed in back. You can set up a cute or scary Halloween display for trick-or-treaters to enjoy as they walk up to the house. Having an actual person included in the display provides a great opportunity to spook the kids.

While it may seem like a silly idea, you can actually have a lot of fun decorating your car for Halloween. You’ll certainly stand out!
