Halloween Table Runner

Use 1/4" seams to assemble the table runner. *Quilt diagram for laying out fabric (see right).

1. For ease in hooping, embroider designs before cutting Color A for center squares: mark outside edge of four 5" X 5" squares with disappearing ink fabric pen. Mark center of squares. Hoop fabric with two pieces of cut-away stabilizer. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Center the next 5" X 5" square in the hoop. Embroider design. Repeat until designs are embroidered. Cut stabilizer and fabric to measure 5" X 5".

5" X 5" squares will be embroidered), two 3" X 39", two 3" X 14". Cut color B (orange): six 11/2" X 5", two 11/2" X 7", two 11/2" X 35", and one 44" X 14" for the back. Cut color C (purple): six 11/2" X 5", two 11/2" X 37", two 11/2" X 9". Cut the batting 44" X 14".

3. Following the diagram layout, start sewing center strip together in this order: Purple 11/2" X 5" strip to orange 11/2" X 5" strip to 5" X 5" embroidered square with bottom of design to orange. Repeat with next embroidered square. Repeat, using a blank 5" x 5" square. Reverse orange and purple and sew top of 5" X 5" embroidered square to purple. Repeat once more. Press.

4. With right sides together, sew orange 11/2" X 35" pieces to sides of piece fi nished in step 3. Sew orange 11/2" X 7" pieces to ends and press.

5. With right sides together, sew purple 11/2" X 37" fabric to sides of piece fi nished in step 4. Sew purple 11/2" X 9" fabric to ends and press.

6. With right sides together, sew green 3" X 39" fabric to sides of piece fi nished in step 5. Sew green 3" X 14" to ends and press.

7. Layer batting, top piece right side up and backing fabric wrong side up. Stitch 1/4" around outside leaving an opening to turn. Turn and press.

8. Slip stitch opening closed. Stitch 1/4" around outside of piece. Stitch in the ditch around the embroidered squares and around purple strips.

9. Sew on buttons, where desired.

Halloween Wall Hanging

Use 1/4" seams to assemble the wall hanging. *Quilt diagram for laying out fabric (see next page).

For this project, you will need:• 1/4 yd Fabric Color A (green)• 3/4 yd Fabric Color B (orange)• 1/4 yd Fabric Color C (purple)• 1/4 yd Fabric Color D (white)• Low Loft batting (18" X 221/2")• Coordinating buttons - if desired• Cut-away stabilizer• Disappearing ink fabric pen• Designs - Choose your 12 favorite designs.

1. For ease in hooping embroider designs before cutting Color D (white) for center squares: mark outside edge of twelve 4" X 4" squares with disappearing ink fabric pen. Mark center of squares. Hoop fabric with two pieces of cut-away stabilizer. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Center the next 4" X 4" square in the hoop. Embroider design. Repeat until designs are embroidered. Cut stabilizer and fabric to measure 4" X 4".

2. Cut color A (green): sixteen 11/2" X 4". Cut color B (orange): twenty 11/2" X 11/2", two 2" X 17" for the

top and bottom, two 2" X 19" for the sides, and one 18" X 221/2" for the back. Cut color C (purple): fi fteen 11/2" X 4". Cut Color D (white): twelve 4" X 4" (refer to #1). Cut the batting 18" X 221/2".

3. Following the diagram layout, sew center strip together in this order:

A. Purple 11/2" X 4" to top of white 4" X 4" embroidered square, purple 11/2" X 4" to the bottom of the white 4" X 4" embroidered square. Repeat with embroidered square and purple 11/2" X 4" two more times. Press seams. Sew the side strips.

B. Sew the orange 11/2" X 11/2" to the green 11/2" X 4", orange 11/2" X 11/2" to the bottom of the green 11/2" X 4". Repeat with green 11/2" X 4", orange 11/2" X 11/2" two more times. Sew three more strips. Press seams.

C. Stitch the orange/green strips to both sides of the left side purple/embroidered strip; repeat to the right side strip. Stitch both sides to the center strip. Press seams.

4. Stitch one orange 2" X 17" piece to the top and one to the bottom. Press seams. Stitch the orange 2" X 19" pieces to the sides. Press seams.

5. Layer batting, top piece right side up and backing fabric wrong side up. Stitch 1/4" around outside leaving an opening to turn. Turn and press.

6. Slipstitch opening closed. Stitch in the ditch around the embroidered squares and around orange/green strips.

7. Sew on buttons where desired.

Halloween Treat Holder

1. Mark a 4" X 4" square on the heavy weight stabilizer. Mark the center of the square.

For this project, you will need:• 5" X 5" piece of fabric (we used purple)• 41/2" X 41/2" piece of fabric (we used green)• 91/2" X 5" piece of light weight cardboard or chipboard• Cut-away stabilizer• Heavy weight stabilizer• 18" ribbon (we used purple)• Disappearing ink fabric pen• Spray adhesive• Iron on adhesive• Craft glue• Eyelets (if desired)• Design HY0666

2. Hoop two pieces of cut-away stabilizer. Spray the stabilizer with the spray adhesive. Adhere the heavy weight stabilizer to the hooped stabilizer.

3. Embroider the design. Remove from the hoop. Trim the cut-away stabilizer close to the back of the design. Cut out the 4" x 4" square.

4. Cut two pieces of the light weight cardboard: one 5" X 5", and one 41/2" X 41/2". Apply the iron on adhesive to the cardboard. Adhere the fabric squares to the cardboard.

5. Glue the 4" x 4" embroidered piece to the 41/2" X 41/2" piece and the 41/2" X 41/2" piece to the 5" X 5" piece with craft glue.

6. After the glue has dried punch small holes through all three layers. Add eyelets if desired. Cut two 9" ribbons. Tie the embroidered piece to the basket.

Repeat to embroider remaining squares.

3. Right sides together stitch 1/4" seam around all 4 sides leaving a couple of inches open for turning. Clip corners, turn and fi ll with about 1 cup of beans or unpopped popcorn.

4. Topstitch all 4 sides 1/4" from edge. Topstitch around all 4 sides again close to the seam. This will prevent seam from opening and losing the fi lling.

Note: We used leis for the bean bag toss game.

Halloween Bean Bags

Use 1/4" seam allowance to assemble bean bags.

1. Cut the fabric: two 6" X 6" for each bean bag. Mark the center with a disappearing ink fabric pen.

2. Hoop two pieces of cut-away stabilizer with one 6" X 6" piece of fabric. Embroider the design. Remove from hoop. Trim stabilizer close to design.

For this project, you will need:• 1/4 yd fabric for three bean bags or 6" X 12" scraps for each bean bag• Cut-away stabilizer• Disappearing ink fabric pen• Beans, rice or unpopped popcorn to fi ll the bags• Designs HY0667, HY0671, and HY0677

Halloween Utensil & Napkin Holder

The fabric listed above will make four utensil and napkin holders, we assembled three. We coordinated the three fabrics on the black fabric for each holder.

1. For ease in hooping, embroider designs before cutting Color B (orange), C (green), and D (purple) for pocket front: mark outside edge of 41/2" X 41/2" square with disappearing ink fabric pen. Mark center of square. Hoop fabric with two pieces of cut-away stabilizer. Embroider design. Cut stabilizer and fabric to measure 41/2" X 41/2".

For this project, you will need:• 1/4 yd of 4 coordinating colors or 4 fat quarters- we used Color A (black), Color B (orange), Color C (green), and Color D (purple)• Cut-away stabilizer• 1/4 yd medium weight stabilizer • Disappearing ink fabric pen • Designs HY0664, HY0668, and HY0670

2. For each holder: Color A (black): cut two 9" X 41/2". Color B (orange), C (green), and D (purple): cut one 41/2" X 41/2" (refer to #1), one 41/2" X 11/2" for the binding on the pocket, and one 11/2" X 29" for the binding on the outside of the holder. Medium weight stabilizer: one 9" X 41/2".

3. Bind off the top of the embroidered fabric with one 41/2" X 11/2" piece of fabric.

4. Layer one 9" X 41/2" fabric wrong side up, medium weight 9" X 41/2" stabilizer, one 9" X 41/2" fabric right side up, embroidered pocket piece right side up at bottom edge of 9" X 41/2" piece. Pin in place and bind off with 11/2" X 29" piece of fabric.

Halloween MailBox Cover

Measure your mailbox and adjust the size as needed. Assemble the mail box cover with 1/4" seams.

1. Cut the solid fabric: one piece 211/4" X 61/2" and one piece 211/4" X 181/2". Cut the print fabric: two pieces 211/4" X 61/2" and eight pieces 2" X 51/2".

2. On the solid 211/4" X 61/2" piece of fabric mark the center of the design so the bottom of the design will embroider above the fl ag of the mail box.

3. Hoop two pieces of cut-away and the fabric. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Trim the stabilizer close to the design.

For this project, you will need:• 1/2 yd solid fabric (we used orange)• 1/4 yd print fabric (we used black/orange print)• Cut-away stabilizer• Disappearing ink fabric pen• Four-21/2" pieces of hook & loop tape• Design HY0672

4. Sew print fabric on both sides of the long edge of the embroidered piece. Press seams toward the print fabric with the seams closed.

5. Right sides together sew the long sides of each of the 8 (2" X 51/2" pieces). Turn and press each piece.

6. Pin right sides down the strips just sewn in step 5 to the right side of the piece sewn in step 4. Placement is 4 on each side (1 on each seam and 1 on each end 1/2" in from end).

7. Pin back solid (orange) fabric right side to right side of front piece. Stitch around piece leaving about 2" opening. Clip corners, turn, slip stitch opening closed, and press. Top stitch 1/4" from outside edges.

8. Sew opening for fl ag. Placement for ours was 41/2" up from bottom 1" in from front. From the 1" mark sew to the right 11/2" and down 21/2" with a satin stitch. Turn and satin stitch back to the beginning. You will have what looks like a buttonhole shaped like a 7.

9. On each tie turn under 1/2" and stitch 21/2" of hook & loop tape.

Halloween Wreath

For this project, you will need:• 1/8 yd tulle• 2 ft ribbon• 8" X 8" fabric • 8" X 8" light weight cardboard or chipboard• 8" X 8" iron on adhesive• Cut-away stabilizer• Disappearing ink fabric pen• Small wreath (we used a grape vine wreath)• Hot glue gun • Design HY0678

1. Mark center on the 8" X 8" fabric. Hoop two pieces of cut-away stabilizer and fabric. Embroider the design. Remove from the hoop. Trim the stabilizer close to the design.

2. Apply the iron on adhesive to the back of the embroidered fabric. Adhere the fabric to the cardboard. Cut the cardboard so it lays 1/4" from the outside edge of the wreath.

3. Lay the cardboard side up on the back of the wreath. Hot glue the cardboard in place.

4. Cut fi ve 41/2" X 41/2" pieces of tulle (or more if desired). Tie to front of wreath.

5. Cut two 12" pieces of ribbon. Tie one into a bow. Hot glue to front of wreath. Hot glue the other 12" piece to the back of the wreath as a hanger.
