Boundaries The Hallerton neighbourhood is located in the southeast of Birley Place. The neighbourhood

boundaries (see Figure 1) extend east from Willow Street and Greene Road, and south of Birley

Fields Road and Bonsall Street.

Neighbourhood Characteristics The neighbourhood of Hallerton is densely populated and is full of families and small businesses. A

recent report found 56% of the residents spoke more than one language.

Neighbourhood Public Services and Businesses The Birley General Practice Health Centre and a Pharmacy can be found within the Hallerton

neighbourhood. There is also a Dental Practice and Physiotherapy Clinic, both of which serve the

entire Birley Place community. Hallerton contains both a Community Centre and a Youth Centre.

Chambers Street Mosque is the main place of worship in Hallerton.

Several businesses operate in Hallerton. These include: Sporting Chance Bookmakers, Allsorts

Clothing, and the Home Bargain Superstore. There is also a post office on Bonsall Road and an

Immigration Solicitors on Johnson Street. Hallerton Garden Centre and a Dog Groomers can also be

found within the Hallerton neighbourhood.

Neighbourhood Retail and Food Services Hallerton is home to several retail outlets selling foods and household goods. These include a

supermarket, two express supermarkets, the International Food Market, and the Indoor Market Hall.

Several restaurants and pubs can also be found in Hallerton. These include an Indian and Pakistani

Restaurant, a Bangladeshi Restaurant, The Ganges Indian Take-away, Hallerton Tandoori, and Birley

Place Kebabs. Other establishments selling food and drink include Gladwin Street Café, the

Murlborough Hotel, The Duke of York Pub, The Eagle and Sun Pub, and a Bar and Nightclub. There is

also an off license on Gladwin Street and a newsagent on McLoughlin Road.

Green Space The areas of green space in Hallerton include Birley Felds Park, the Youth Centre, the Community Centre and other grassy areas around Johnson Street, Hamshire Street, Chambers Street and Chapman Road. The green space makes up approximately 15% of the overall neighbourhood area. Regular activities that take place in the green space include:

Nature Tots (Birley Fields Park) o Tuesdays 10:00-11:00

Football training (Youth Centre) o Hallerton Tots (ages 2-5): Saturday mornings 09:00-10:00 o Hallerton Kids (ages 5-10): Tuesday evening, 18:00-19:00 and Saturday mornings,

10:00-11:00 o Hallerton Youths (ages 11-16): Tuesday evenings, 19:00-20:00 and Saturday

mornings, 11:00-12:00

Football training (Community Centre) o Adults five-a-side football: Fridays 19:30-20:30, Sundays 15:00-16:30

Basketball (Youth Centre outdoor court) o Fridays 19:00-21:00 from May to September
