• Transport Canada initiative facilitated by Dept of External Affairs to Establish Needs-based Programme for Port and Marine Security
– Basis is Cooperation and Bi-lateral Assistance
relating to marine security especially capacity building
– Sharing information including policy and legislative development; best practices; new technologies; communication and intelligence sharing
– Training Jamaicans through specially designed courses, participation in Canadian training programmes and observer status at marine security exercises in Canada.

– Establish info exchange links on Canada’s marine security policy and legislative development and approval processes
– Establish info exchange links in TC on selected operational topics such as best practices for cruise search techniques, conducting drills and exercises, new technologies for detecting radio-active substances
– Identify contact points in other Canadian LEAs such as Canada Border Services Agency, Coast Guard, RCMP, as basis for sharing info on trends in illegal activities
