The design of Hillside Pavilion Residence takes full advantage of the naturally sloping landscape, yielding sweeping panoramic views from all levels of this south-west facing lot. The main living spaces are lifted ten feet above the lower level to provide enhanced views of the Pacific Ocean from the living room and master suite. Tucked underneath, the lower level bedrooms and two lanais offer moments of quiet retreat.
Lush, tropical landscaping provides a natural backdrop for a home whose transparency blurs the boundaries between inside and outside. Multiple terraces and lanais maximize the amount of covered outdoor spaces, which flow seamlessly into living spaces that overlook the ocean. Nesting layers of glass and operable shutters allow residents to easily alter the building envelope throughout the day, adjusting the comfort of their experience to match the changing climate.
The gardens provide areas for active play, as well as quiet retreats. Three water features which include a swimming pool, spa, reflecting pond and fire pit offer a variety of relaxing experiences through the day and into the night. The Makai side gardens are open to provide space for play and active use, while the mauka side garden is private, and offers protection from trade winds and harsh afternoon sun.
