Halal & haram Food ?

14 Pork is Prohibited not only in Quran But in the Bible also. And the swine, as he divided the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.(Leviticus chapter 11, verse 7 & 8) And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet chewed not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.(Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 8). A similar prohibition is repeated in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5Why PORK IS HARAM ?

15 Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases.A person can have various helminthes, like roundworm/ pinworm/ hookworm/ etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which in a laymans terminology is called tapeworm.

Pig is the most shameless animal. Pork has fat building material which causes hypertension and heart attack. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth.Why PORK IS HARAM ?

16 ALCOHOL IS THE MOTHER OF ALL SINS In one Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him)has said that Faith and alcohol cannot be gather (are not compatible) with a person. (Nasai) Disadvantages of Alcohol is much more than the benefits. 18 Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said: Cleanliness is half the faith. Prevention lies in safe disposal of human excreta simple hygienic practices of washing hand before eating and after a visit to toilet. Sanitary disposal of fecal matter and personal hygiene are very important in controlling all worm infections. Washing hands is perhaps the simplest but most important precaution in avoiding all microbial and worm infections. (Food Safety Book, Published by IGNOU) Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said The blessing of food lies in washing hands before and after eating. ( Tirmizi ) If the hand is impure, then it must be washed until it is purified, means it must be washed until the odor, color & taste of the ritual impurity (Najas) is removed.Hygiene & Sanitation

Mashbooh is an Arabic term which means suspected or doubtful ingredients about which we are not sure of the source. Once The Prophet passed by a pile of food and put his hand into it, and his fingers touched something wet. He said, What is this, O seller of the food? The man said, It got rained on, O Messenger of Allah. He said, Why did you not put it (the wet part) on top of the pile so that the people could see it? He who deceives does not belong to me. According to other reports, He who deceives us is not one of us, or, He is not one of us who deceives us. 38Sunnahis the way of life prescribed as normative for Muslims on the basis of the teachings and practices of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and interpretations of the Quran. The wordSunnahis derived from the root meaning smooth and easy flow [of water] or direct flow path. The word literally means a clear and well trodden path. In the discussion of the sources of religion, Sunnah denotes the practices of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) that he taught and practically instituted as a teacher of theshariahand the best exemplar.According to Muslim belief, this practice is to be adhered to in fulfilling the divine injunctions, carrying out religious rites and molding life in accord with the will of God. To institute these practices was, theQuranstates, a part of the Prophets responsibility as aMessenger of God.The Sunnah of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) includes his specific words, habits, practices, and silent approvals:it is significant because it addresses ways of life dealing with friends, family and government.RecordingSunnahwas anArabiantradition and, once people converted toIslam, they brought this custom to the irreligion.TheSunnahis consulted after referring to theQur'an, if the issue is not addressed there. The term "Sunni" denotes those who claim to practice these usages, as part of theUmmah.

Dhabiha: Method of slaughter

40Dhabiha: Method of SlaughterIslam has laws regarding which foods can and cannot be eaten and also on the proper method of slaughtering an animal for consumption, known as Dhabiha.Dhabiha (Arabic : )/Zibah is the method or the act of slaughter by which an animal or a bird is slaughtered by a Muslim by saying shahada or tasmiya, Bismillah Allahu Akbar. Dhabiha (Arabic: ), is the prescribed method of ritul slaughter of all animals excluding fish and most sea-life as per Islamic law.

Halal Committee-JUM41This method of slaughtering animals consists of a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck, cutting the jugular veins and, carotid arteries of both sides & windpipe but leaving the spinal cord intact.No dorsal cut is allowed, since this method would severe the spinal cord & the bird or the animal is rendered incapacitated to convulse to drain the flowing blood out of the carcass.If the slaughter is not done by Zibah method, any meat or derivatives from such carcasses cannot be deemed to be Halal or permissible for Muslims to consume.

Dhabiha : Method of Slaughter

Halal Committee-JUM421. Chicken birds should be live & healthy. 2. Stunning (if) 20volts to 30Volts for 15sec (Voltage & Time are in inverse proportionate). The stunned bird should be able to be back in Normal condition within 3(three) minutes, if left un-slaughtered.

3. Slaughterer recites, DUA BISMILLAH ALLAHO-AKBAR before slaughtering the bird with his own hands, making sure that the bird was alive at the instant of being slaughtered.

4. Slaughterer needs minimum 2.5 seconds to recite the DUA. Incase of higher speed of the chain if one person does not get the sufficient time to recite the dua, more than one person can be put on the job of slitting to perform the satisfactory job, depending upon the speed of the chain.

5. The bleeding period (time between slaughter and going in the water bath) should not be less than 120sec (2minutes). The bird should be STILL (cool & calm) before going into the water bath.

6. Scalding Temperaturewater bath temperaturemaximum up to 64C. Scalding time (the bird in the hot water) - maximum upto100 seconds. Scalding Temperature and Scalding Time are inversely proportionate.

7. Hygiene in processing area needs to be taken care. Production area specially processing area should to be disinfected periodically and regularly.

Norms for Halal Certification of Chicken Processing Plant

Halal Committee-JUM43 All the machinery coming in contact with stuff should be regularly cleaned with appropriate disinfectant. Workers need to be made aware of hygiene operation .Gloves booties (shoes) and hand disinfectants should be provided. Knife and other utensils should be sterilized with hot water (approximate 80C). The hot water should be replaced periodically. Final chicken should be free from pathogenic microbes like Salmonella, E.Coli and staphylococci etc.

8. To make sure that the norms are being followed by the Processing Unit, the HALAL CommitteeJamiat Ulama has to appoint his two representatives in the Plant. 9. The representative (Maulana) of HALAL Committee Jamiat Ulama will be responsible to implement the norms and cooperation from the unit will be mandatory.
