60’s Day-wear (period wear) * Smartest thing to do is to watch the movie...watch youtube for ideas * GOOGLE search for “1962 Women’s (or girl’s) Fashion” or “clothes” * GOOGLE search for “1962 Men’s Fashion” or “clothes” LADIES: Dresses and/or blouses with skirts

- Very close to late 50’s look...but NOT GREASE look - A-line or circle skirt...pencil skirts would not have been too tight - skirts more high waisted and at the knee (not like a poodle skirt) - flats or “Mary Janes”...character shoes always good...no saddle shoes...very plain - Blouses had higher neckline...ballet neckline...¾ sleeves - Button-down blouses, waist length cardigans or jacket - 1962 was marked by subtle, yet meaningful changes. The silhouette became slightly more

form-fitting, but the lines didn’t try to accentuate curves. - The waist was always accompanied by a belt, sash or wide inset bias band. - 1962 mostly focused on 3 styles:

1.) Sleek and slender 2.) softly bloused with muffled neckline 3.) “natural” outline, which fell in a simple, form-fitting line

- HOSE!!! GUYS: NOT like GREASE (with Greasers, etc)

- Chinos and slacks...no jeans...no skinny pants - button down short sleeve shirts...loose fitting - Plaid madras shirts - Sweater vests and layers...jackets

COMPANY A:

- Go with more neutral colors...very basic and subtle prints...dressed down a bit - Browns...rusts...earth tone

MOTHERS:

- Add to your daywear to make look more mature - Coats...hats...purses...sweaters...different shoes...wigs...scarves...glasses...pearls

Miscellaneous Characters:

- See Mr. Kieffer and Mrs. Hayes for ideas and directives
