Hag 2: 6 Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry
land; And I will shake all nations.
SHAKING
a) The Past – There was a shaking at the time of the giving of the law.
b) The Future - The final Shaking – Once more there will a shaking Heb 12:26
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the
earth only, but also heaven.
The whole universe would be shaken.
c) Shaking mean? – judgments of God wrath. ISH 13:13 - day of his fierce anger.
Dan 2:35 Shaking of all kingdoms..
Mt 24:29-30 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon
shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken:
Rev 6: 16 - wrath of the Lamb:
d) When would this shaking take place?
Begins before "the desire of all nations"
It is the eve of the glorious period, which all creation groans but waits. –The
This Prophecy is not related to the Church?
Hag 2:4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of
Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD
e) What does the phrase ‘Desire of all Nation mean’? Malachi 3: 1: "The Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the
covenant, whom ye delight in."
Isaiah 11:10 Millennial reign "In that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign
of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek."
Isa 60, 5, 11 the forces of the gentiles come to him.
Jn 12: 1- 11 The Church; 12-19 The Jews; Vs 20-23 The Nations
f) The Wealth of all Nations: The Silver is mine & Gold is mine Lord of hosts is the owner of the silver and the gold — all belonging rightfully to Him;
The nations will bring their wealth to the Israelites, like the Egyptians gave their treasures to the
departing Hebrews at the
Ish 60: 6.b. Sheba shall bring gold and incense; 9.b. The ships of Tarshish will bring their silver and
their gold.
g) How Long for fulfillment of this prophesy. – A little while Hag 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, ...
A short period of time.
3-4 days: Jesus says John; A generation: Ps 37:10, David says
Jer 51:33; Hos 1:4 Period 40 to 70 years Ish 10:24-25 120 -150 yrs.
Ps 90: 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
2Pet 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as one day.
1Pet 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through
manifold temptations:
UNSAKEABLE
Heb 12:27-28 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as
of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may
serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
All imposing things in the world can be shaken, and therefore will be removed.
But we are connected with a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Gates of Hell cannot prevail against it
But we are in a kingdom that cannot be shaken; the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
So let us serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
6. UNIVERSAL PEACE
Vs9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in
this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts
a) Peace - The Place
The blessed promise of peace was to be in this place. Which place? Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is a city that has the most turbulent history – many raids and sieges – even today.
Yet out it shall flow peace like a river (Isa 66:12)
b) Peace - The Seat
Eze. 37: 26, 27 . Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting
covenant with them…. And I will …. set my Sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore yea, I will
be their God, and they shall be my people.
Zech 6:12,13 He will speak peace to all His seed; ….. shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall
be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both
c) Peace - The Offer
Lk 19:41, 42 Lord descended from Mt Olives. They sang ‘Blessed be the king’. Laid their garments,
cut the branches of palm trees. Lev 23:40
They did not accept the Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6). So the fulfillment must be future (millennial).
Lasting peace will only come when Messiah returns to rule and reign (cf. Isa. 2:4; Zech. 9:9-10).
d) Peace - The Persons
(i) Peace between God and man
Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto
himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Isa 53:5 ….. The chastisement of our peace was upon him ...
Ps 85:8, 10; ….. for he (Lord) will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: …. 10 Mercy and
truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
(ii) Peace between man & God.
Rom 5:1 – Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jn 20:19 – First words of Lord to his disciple after resurrection – Peace be unto you
(iii) Peace between Jew & Gentile
Eph 2:14- He is our peace… broken the middle wall of partition (Jew & Gentile) … making peace.
(iv) Peace between Nations (Man & Man) Peace between Nations (man & man)
There will be absolute peace all over the world. Isa 2:4 Nations “ and they shall beat their spears into
pruning hooks; nations shall not lift up swords against nations neither shall they learn war anymore”
(v) Peace in the Universe - among all creation
Isa 11:6-9 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and
the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow
and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the
ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand
on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall
be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and
dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the
LORD.
There will be peace in the whole earth.
e) Peace - The measure
Phil 4:7 – Peace of God that passeth all understanding keep your hearts and your thoughts in Christ
Jesus
f) Peace - The manner
Jn 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Two types of peace – (1) Reconciliation with an enemy – (2) Quietness in adversity.
Peace I leave with you – Col 1:20 – Peace …… reconciling. Rom 5:1 justified by faith, we have
peace with God. Based on His atoning work on the cross – To do with our Justification. It is Peace
WITH God
My peace I give unto you – Experiential peace – quietness during the time of tumult/storm. Enjoyed
through the inner working of the Holy Spirit. Phil 4:7 Peace of God … keep your hearts and thoughts
in Christ. Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts It is to do with our mind and
thoughts. It is Peace OF God.
g) Peace - Our obligation:
(1) Personal Life
1Pet 3:11; Ps 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call
on the Lord out of a pure heart.
(2) Christian Fellowship Life.
Php 4:2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
1Th 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among
yourselves.
Ro 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one
may edify another.
(3) Assembly Life
Eph 4:3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
2Co 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace;
and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
(4) Social Life
Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
7. HIS UTIMATE GLORY
The occasion of the feast of Tabernacles to encourage the builders of the temple.
The feast looks back to their wilderness journey, and Looked Forward to the Promised Land.
So the message speaks about the covenant of Egypt and the future of the temple.
a) Glory – The Filling.
God has always filled HIS house with glory.
Ex 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the
tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud
abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
1Ki 8:11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the
LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
b) Glory – The Sign
What does this glory indicate?
Lord’s Presence - Both in the. tabernacle and Solomon's temple;
Why Cloud – Man cannot can see him and live. The glory of His Diety. His Essential glory .
Moses said show me thy glory.
Ex33: 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
Ex 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be
seen.
c) Glory – The House.
Glory of this latter house? Or Latter glory of this house.
The right translation: 'The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former'.
Because: Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory?
There is nothing such as the first temple, second temple … etc.
God does not regard them as different houses at diff. period. Just one house broken and rebuilt.
Solomon first built the temple. Destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar –
Then Zerubabbel rebuilt the temple and later renovated by Herod – Destroyed by Titus.
Will be again rebuilt at the same place during the tribulation – Will be destroyed again
Will be rebuilt by the Lord himself during the millennium – Will be the seat of His throne
Eze 21:27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it
is; and I will give it him.
d) Glory Past
(1) Glory Appears
First glory as built by Solomon, so much so that the priests could not enter.
1Ki 8:11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the
LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
Ex 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the
tabernacle.
(2) Glory Departs
Before Nebuchadnezzar army invaded the temple the glory of the Lord departed from the temple.
It departed step by step. From the Most holy place to the threshold of the house (Eze 9:3) to the gates
of the temple (Eze 10: 18,19) and to the mountain on the east side of the city (Eze 11:23).
The patience of God in leaving
(3) Glory Returns.
Eze 43:4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is
toward the east. 5 So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory
of the LORD filled the house.
Returns the same way the glory departed.
When he comes he comes suddenly (Mal 3:1). When he left he left slowly.
e) Glory Incarnate
(1) Glory Appears
Jn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacle among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Simeon Lk 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
Mt 17:1-2 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up
into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun,
and his raiment was white as the light.
Lord "in this place is one greater than the temple" Mt 12:6
(2) Glory Departs
Ac 1: 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud
received him out of their sight. The glory departed from Mount Olivet (Ac 1:12).
cloud
(3) Glory Returns.
Zech 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem
on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the
west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north,
and half of it toward the south. 7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not
day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
Return back the same way He departed.
f) Glory – The Covering
The first time the Glory of God appeared in the temple, the Cloud covered the glory.
The Second time the Glory of God appeared in the temple, the glory was covered by flesh. The Word
was made flesh.
The third time the Glory of God will appear in the temple, the cloud of witnesses will cover the glory.
Mk 13:26; Lu 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great
glory.
Glory to be revealed
2 Thes 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and
that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
g) Glory – Eternal
The heavenly Jerusalem shall be similarly adorned, but shall need "no temple"
Re 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did
lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Jn 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they
may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the
world.
True in regard to the church. Its latter end, when invested with the glory of Christ, will exceed all that
marked it at the beginning.
2Cor 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into
the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
