A) Share Capital:The share capitalof Hafed as on 31 March 2010 is Rs.12.93 crore and it includes Govt.equity of Rs. 18.75 lac.

B) Reserve & Surplus :The reserveand surplus of the Federationincreased from Rs. 380.12 crore (as

C) Turnover and Profits The turnover of the Federation is increased from 3095.09 croresto 4253.55 crores from financial year 2005-06 to 2009-10 butprofits decreased from 58.36 crore to 43.45 crore during thesame period. The data of last five years is as under:

PROCUREMENTA) Wheat Procurement:-

Hafed is one of the state agencies for

procurement of wheat on support price announced by Govt. of

India from time to time and has been procuring wheat since 1969.

Wheat is delivered to FCI for central pool. In the year 2009-10

Hafed purchased 24.74 Lac MTs out of total procurement of the

state that was 69.11 lac MTs. It contributes 36% of the total

procurement.

PROCUREMENT B) Rice Procurement :-

Hafed is one of the state procuring agencies for

procurement of paddy under support price operations. Hafed owns

13 Rice mills with a capacity of 302 MT of paddy per hour. Hafed

also purchases Basmati paddy and other varieties of paddy to

ensure competitive prices to the paddy growers. In the year 2009-

10 hafed purchased 10.40 MT.

INPUTS

A) Fertilizers:- Hafed is rendering in providing agricultural inputs viz.Fertilizers, Pesticides, Insecticides, seed etc. on reasonable prices at thedoor- steps of farmers including remote areas through number

cooperate Marketing societies and over 564 PACS spread all over the

stats in order to boost agricultural production.

MARKETING With a view to provide marketing support to the

processing activity of Hafed by relating regulardemand of its branded consumer products likeBasmati Rice, Kachi Ghani mustard oil, Refinedsoyabean and cotton seed oil, Desi Wheat, Desiwheat atta, Sugar, Turmeric powder, etc., systematicefforts were made to recognise its marketing

activities in the year 1993-94 by establishingindependent marketing division. Since then sales ofHafed consumer products have increased manifold.

A) Contract Farming

Hafed undertaken contract farming of Barley,

Basmati, Paddy and Desi Wheat. Farmers get

better prices of their produce.

B) ORGANIC FARMING

Hafed has undertaken organic projects on

1000 hectares, under which the cost of

organic certification and advisory services to

the farmers is being borne by Hafed.

WARE HOUSING Hafed has over the years, created its

own scientific storage capacity of 8.64lac MT godowns.

Processing Units

Hafed has also set up processing units. Some of them are givenbelow:

EXPORT

Hafed is also active in export of rice.

In 2009-10 the value of rice exported

by Hafed was Rs. 1.38 crore

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Various initiatives have been taken to enhance

the penetration of I.T. in the organization.

Some of the projects undertaken during this

period include comprehensive computerization

of all the member Cooperative MarketingSocieties, online monitoring of court cases,

online sales monitoring etc,.

STRENGHTHENING OFMEMBER COOP. MARKETINGSOCIETIES

Hafed being an Apex Federation of the cooperative Marketing

Societies is committed to watch the interests of It's member

societies. The entire business of Hafed viz. Procurement,

Supply of Inputs etc, is routed through these societies in the

State. Thus, Hafed not only provides remunerative prices tofarmers for their produce but also pays commission to its

member Coop. Marketing Societies on the business done

through them.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

Though Hafed is achieving

excellence in every sphere of its

activity but on certain fronts, it is

lacking. In export the organizationdid not show results. The total

revenue earned by it in 2009-10 was

only 1.38 crore. This has to be

increased in future.
