495 HACKETT FAMILY 1861-Present Levi and Sarah Ann Adkins Hackett moved from Kentucky to Douglas County in 1861, which was just recently formed by detaching from Coles County in 1859. Levi, Sarah and their eight children resided on and farmed 90 acres located 1 mile north and 1.5 miles east of Tuscola. This property is adjacent to what is now known as Hackett Creek. Legrand Hackett, 2 nd child of Levi and Sarah, served in the Civil War in the 154 th Illinois Regiment. After being discharged on September, 19, 1865 he returned to Douglas County to farm for a living, acquiring land throughout the years, including the original homestead of his parents. He retired from farming in 1904 and moved to Tuscola at 207 E. Sale St. until his death in 1918 and is buried in Tuscola Cemetery. HACKETT FAMILY 1861-Present

Warne / Hackett Family

James and Maria were pioneers of Douglas County, settling 1 ¼ miles north of West Ridge, where

they resided for the rest of their lives. They had four children. Lucretia and Myrtle Warne, two of their four children, married two Hackett brothers. Lucretia married James; younger sister, Mrytle, married James’ younger brother, Frank.

1960. John then bought interest in Consoer
