• The world has changed dramatically since The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was first published in 1989, by Stephen Covey.

Covey presents a step-by-step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, service and human

dignity — principles that give you the security to adapt to change, and the wisdom and

power to take advantage of the opportunities that change creates.

Page 3: Habit 6

Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often

unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character.

(Stephen Covey)

Page 4: Habit 6

A reporter asked Covey: “Are the 7 Habits still relevant today?”And, for that matter, “Will they be relevant 10, 20, 50, 100 years from

now?”

Stephen R. Covey’s answer: “The greater the change and more difficult our

challenges, the more relevant the habits become.”

“By synergistically creating a mission statement, it becomes engraved in the hearts and minds of the

participants”

HABIT 6

Page 6: Habit 6

Habit A habit is the intersection

of knowledge, skill and desire:

• Knowledge is the theoretical paradigm, the what to do and the why.

• Skill is the how to do.• Desire is the

motivation, the want to do.

• two politicians being able to get a million voters each, but 2.5 million together.

Page 14: Habit 6

Look at this

You walk outside and you look up in the sky. You see a flock of birds flying in a v shape. You ask

yourself why are they doing this. They are working as together as a team. You see when the leader gets tired he falls to the back of the pack. This is because the leader creates a draft

for everyone else to just glide on.

Page 15: Habit 6

You are watching a basketball game. They are working together as a team. They are

synergizing.

Page 17: Habit 6

Celebrating Differences:

value differences, see each other as an

advantage and not as a weakness. believe that

if two people think differently can achieve more than two people

who think alike.

Tolerating Difference:

believe that everyone has the right to be

different. ” You keep to yourself and ill keep to myself.”

see differences as hurdles, not as

potential strengths.
