Things to Bring to the US Consulate for Visa Stamping.Below are a list of documents you might want to bring with you at the US consulate interview for your H1B or L1 stamping. Note that the following are just a basic list. The interviewing officer might request additional documents depending on your case. Therefore this list is general in nature.

VALID PASSPORTYou need a valid original passport. Make sure to have passport valid for at least six months beyond your interview date. We recommend having a passport for a longer expiry date than 6 months.

All Your Previous PassportsAll previous passports even expired passports held. If passport lost bring a police report explaining the loss.Important: Do not omit any of the passports!

Bring PhotographsOne photograph as per specification. Bring an additional photograph just in case!

DS 160 CONFIRMATIONVisa Application Form DS-160 confirmation page stamped at the Visa Application Center (VAC)

FEE PAYMENT RECEIPT Visa Application Fee payment receipt.Make sure you can prove you paid for your fees.

APPOINTMENT LETTERVisa Interview appointment letter. Important: Keep a copy of everything you are submitting.

Original - I797 APPROVAL NOTICEOriginal Notice of Action-I797.Note that a good photocopy of the I797 might also be accepted although it is better to have the original.

EMPLOYMENT LETTERCurrent Employment letter although you have a copy of the petitioner's letter. The letter should mention date of employment,length of employment, job duties and salary offered.

COPY OF H1B or L1 APPLICATIONA copy of the entire application if available (H1B or L1 USCIS application). This is the package which was submitted to the USCIS in order to get the approval (I-797 approval notice).

POLICE CLEARANCEA police clearance certification if you have been arrested or have any criminal issues. Bring explanation and we recommend having a lawyer give an advisory opinion on the matter.
