The ongoing transformation of the library continues this fall. Look for us behind the plaza construction gates and you’ll find new windows on the east side of the building, new signage inside the library, and reconfigured and remodeled classrooms. We are also currently displaying student and alumni artwork and embarking on a new cultural partnership with the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation. Finally, we have added many new iMacs downstairs, in and near the DMZ, and increased access to color printing. Library Departments

Purchase College has entered into a partnership with the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation to house the Gordon Parks Collection and the Meserve-Kunhardt Collections of 19th and 20th century photography.

The Meserve-Kunhardt Collection of over 200,000 photographs, artifacts and unique documents oers unparalleled insight into 19th and early 20th century America. The collection was begun in 1897 by Frederick Meserve and contains original photographs by Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner and other pioneers in photography.

Gordon Parks was one of the major photojournalists, authors, and lm directors of 20th century America and the collection includes more than 4,000 photographic images, 22,000 negatives, plus slides and contact sheets from the Gordon Parks estate through a special arrangement with the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation.

At Purchase, the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation will have its own sta to catalog and organize the collections in space provided by the Library. Purchase College faculty and students will have access to these valuable collections for research and instructional purposes.

Moodle is Purchase College’s new learning management system (LMS). It is ocially replacing both Blackboard and ERes in the Fall of 2009. The Teaching, Learning and Technology Center (TLTC) is oering a Moodle Kicko Workshop Series this Fall. For more information, or to sign up for classes, go to:

* The library’s collection includes more than 45,000 online journals, magazines, and newspapers?

* You can chat with a librarian, 24/7, using the library’s Ask a Librarian service?

Moodle is Taking Over*******************

The Purchase College Library has created a bank of assignments that address information and research skills. They range from simple, short exercises to complex research assignments. Search for assignments by category (e.g., critical reading, generating topics, popular vs. scholarly) or by diculty. You can drop them right into your courses or adapt them any way you’d like.
