Dear Customer:
In order to continue the best possible service, we wish to assist you in understanding recent eventsrelating to the Pentex' blood proteins.
Recently, the biochemical segment of Miles Scientific Division was sold to ICN Pharmaceuticals. At thesame time, an agreement was entered for ICN to distribute the small pack sizes of the Pentex bloodproteins used in research. The purpose of this letter is to clarify purchasing since some confusionappears to have resulted from these changes. Bulk proteins intended for process/product engineering, establishment of performance specifications, or trial manufacturing should be ordered directly fromMiles in Kankakee. This may be done by either telephone or telex:
TELEPHONE: (815) 937-8458TELEX: 215094
These same blood proteins are sold in large, or bulk, quantities to manufacturers and industrial users. This segment of the market will continue to be handled directly by Miles. The only change which hasoccurred with respect to these bulk products is that distribution and invoicing are now from Kankakeeinstead of Naperville, IL. We expect this change will improve order turnaround and technical servicesupport since Pentex blood proteins will continue to be manufactured at Kankakee.
It continues to be Miles' policy to support top quality products with the same quality service. Thus, welook forward to continuing as your supplier of these Pentex products.
Yours very truly,
E. DickinsonPentex Products

ASTIIONOIII &
ASTIIOPIIVSICSThis volume contains 24 articles published in Science between 1982-84,ranging from the solar system to the pulsars at the very edge of the observ-able universe. Research techniques and instruments described cover suchdiverse topics as proton decay, the Very Large Array, and the plannedSpace Station as a platform for future experiments.
Each article is self-contained, yet as a whole, the volume reveals a broad, coherent, and contemporary picture of our astronomical universe. Selectedfor their depth of coverage and breadth of topics by Morton S. Roberts, pastDirector of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, these articles are ofinterest to the entire scientific community.

Sn ome of the most frequently cited papers on acquired immune deficiencysyndrome (AIDS) that appeared in Science between August 1982 andSeptember 1985 are included in this volume. Arranged chronologically,
these 108 research papers and Science news reports show how far AIDS re-search has come and provide an indication of the directions in which it mightgo.
This fully indexed collection is useful not only for the experimental data andconclusions, but also as an excellent source of references to AIDS work in othermajorjoumals worldwide. An overview ofresearch inAIDS to date is provided inthe introduction by Dr. Myron Essex, chairman of the Department of CancerBiology, Harvard University School of Public Health.
