FCUMC MISSION STATEMENT

“SEEKING TO BE THE HEART AND HANDS OF CHRIST SHARING THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH OUR COMMUNITY AND BEYOND.”

Friends,

I’s the time of year that we

enter into a time of prayer,

discernment and planning for

the leadership, mission and

ministry of the local church.

During the months of Septem-

ber and October there will be meetings, phone calls and

face-to-face invitations to those who have been living

out their membership vows through their prayers, pres-

ence, gifts, service and witness at our beloved Fletcher’s

Chapel United Methodist Church. The invitations will be

extended by the members of the Committee on Nomi-

nations and Leadership Development. The Book of Dis-

cipline defines the responsibilities of this committee in

the following way:

¶ 258.1. There shall be elected annually, by the charge

conference in each local church, a committee on nomina-

tions and leadership development that is composed of

professing members of the local church. The charge of

this committee is to identify, develop, deploy, evaluate,

and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the local

congregation. Members of the committee shall engage

in and be attentive to developing and enhancing their

own Christian spiritual life in light of the mission of the

Church (Part V, Chapter One, Section 1).

In conducting its work, the committee shall engage in

biblical and theological reflections on the mission of the

church, the primary task, and ministries of the local

church. It shall provide a means of identifying the spiri-

tual gifts and abilities of the membership. The commit-

tee shall work with the church council or alternative

administrative bodies, to determine the diverse ministry

tasks of the congregation and the skills needed for lead-

ership.

If you get invited to serve, please do not give an instant

response. We encourage you to prayerfully consider

what is being asked of you and respond with a happy

heart.

Fletcher’s Chapel UMC has been blessed with amazingly

dedicated leaders. We pray that this will continue for

the next 191 years!!

In God’s love,

Pastor Suzanne
