Frances Lucinda Gwynn Davis, age 96, lifelong resident of Somerville and wife of the late Thomas Edward “Ted” Davis, died Tuesday afternoon, October 3, 2017 at Bells Nursing Home in Bells, Tennessee.

Mrs. Davis was born May 30, 1921 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Garland Ray Gwynn and Lula Mae Tacker Gwynn. She was a lifelong resident of the Somerville area and was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1939. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Somerville where she taught the RA’s and GA’s. She loved being involved with the youth and the Sunbeam preschool kids. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Eastern Star, where she served as a Worthy Matron, and enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing piano, playing cards, music, singing and sewing.

Mrs. Davis is survived by two daughters, Joyce Davis Rhodes of Memphis, TN, Patricia Davis Chambers (Terry) of Brownsville, TN; three sons, John Albert Davis, Sr. of Gadsden, TN, Garland Edward Davis (Tracey) of Somerville, TN, Donald Ray Davis of Somerville, TN; her brother, Thomas Ray Gwynn of Tullahoma, TN; 12 grandchildren, Marie Williams, Debbie Davis, Wanda Jordan, John Albert Davis, Jr., Melissa Cheeks, Karen Feathers Jeter, Jeffrey Segerson, Patrick Davis, Landon Davis, Jennifer Mettler, Eva Medford Essary, Allison Chambers Saxon; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward “Ted” Davis who died January 27, 1986; her parents, Garland Ray Gwynn and Lula Mae Tacker Gwynn; two sisters, Edna Louise Gwynn Lucas, Mary Lee Boldreghini; and her brother, John Albert Gwynn.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Crockett County Carl Perkins Center, 78 E. Park Street, Alamo, TN 38001.
