A Word from your

Chapter Director’s

Grumpy Williams & Kay Fitzsimmons

Here we are one month closer to spring. It looks like March may be warming up somewhat. Chapter A2 did it again at Winter Rendezvous, we won first place for the float and our Chapter Sales were a huge success. A great big thanks to all who participated. Jany’s good-ies sold like cup cakes. The float looked excellent when the lights were low and we pulled it through the ball room. Burrrrrrt and Kenny were the show stoppers when they played a game on the stage after the meal. Ask them how they won a hundred dollars for the chapter. Our rooms by the pool were good again this year and they are reserved for next year. The hospitality room was outstanding even though it was on the sixth floor. We had more food and goodies than we could eat but we put a lot of it somewhere. We reserved a hospitality room for next year also. Everyone had a good time and the attendance was greater than last year. I want to thank all who attended again for a great job and a huge showing. I believe we had the largest chapter in attendance. Congratulations to Ken and Roberta for being sworn in as our new MEC’s. Lonny Hunter attended our February gathering and took care of the formalities. We did not have any other chapter visit us to take the Region Traveling Plaque so it is still up for grabs. It is time to start thinking about your bike and dusting off the cob webs. We will be rid-ing before you know it. If you do a little maintenance each day you will be ready to ride on that first warm day. Let’s have a great 2016.

A Word from your ACD’s

Rob & Jany Runion

Hello!

Another Winter Rendezvous has come and gone, and once again, A-2 was well-represented. (We had 20+ members) Our float took 1st place honors. Ron & Sandi Mendenhall did an amazing job at the Couple of the Year competition; but unfortunately was beat by Ray & Melinda Faber. Ron & Sandi made us very proud....you are "winners" in our eyes! If you didn't make it this year, you sure missed a good time. We have Spring Wing Warmup coming up.....May 19-21 at Parke County Fair-grounds in Rockville, IN. We hope you all are planning on attending; it is always a lot of fun....plenty to do and Parke County has a TON of good roads for rid-ing. FYI....the weekend before Spring Wing (Saturday, May 14), Rob is planning a trip to Niehaus in Litchfield, IL. Their Customer Appreciation Days are going on that weekend....lots of vendors, food, entertainment & prizes. We will leave there and head to Sikeston, MO to have dinner at Lamberts. This will be an overnight trip. We will let you know more when plans have been finalized. We need to decide what time to leave, check on hotel rates, etc. A big thanks to Mike & Penny Kadinger for instructing the CPR class on Feb. 27th. You both do an outstanding job! If you are not CPR certified, I urge you to find a class (or check with Mike for upcoming classes). CPR is something that we should ALL learn. You never know when an emergency could come up and just by taking a 4 hour class, you could save a life!! As of this writing, there are only 17 days UNTIL SPRING!!!! YAY!

GWRRA INDIANA A2 March 2016 Words from your Chapter Educators Thad & Robin Smith

With the weather changing for the better, it’s time to pull the old freedom machine out of storage and put some real serious thought into getting it road ready. Basically, its TCLOCS time. Now, this is something that needs to be done each time you get ready to jump on for a ride and usually takes about 3 minutes. But, this first time is so important and should be a real thorough look. (maybe 4-5 minutes) T-tires and wheels (brakes)

Sour Grapes

Ron & Sandi Mendenhall

Kerry Shue found that the new 2016 trikes have new design of grab handles. Neihaus had some new trikes at the rally. Annette sat in the drivers seat, so Kerry got in the passenger seat. Annette had her hands on the handle bars. Kerry reached around from the back and his hands landed on her chest. He said he needed something to hang on to and that was the most comfortable for him to grab. Grumpy and six other chapter members rode together to Fort Wayne to pick up the Regional Plaque. Grumpy said the meeting was a little long, and there was a snow storm moving in, so they were want-ing to get started back home. They didn’t get the plaque until the end of the meeting and they took pictures of the group. Grumpy had laid the plaque down while saying good-bye and getting their coats on. After they had all gotten in the car to start home and Grumpy started to back out, he suddenly pulled back into parking spot and went back inside to get the plaque. They almost came home without it after driving all the way to Fort Wayne. Rob was leading a caravan of A-2 people home from the rally up I-65. I was in the back and all of a sudden he came from behind and passed us going to the front of the caravan again. When we stopped for lunch he said he had to stop as the lids on Grumpy’s cooler were coming open while driving down the road and he was afraid stuff would blow out. Ken and Bert were selected to play the not so newly-wed game at the rally. We found out some interesting things about Ken and Bert. For example Bert does not know if Ken’s car is front wheel drive, rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. The guys were asked this question: what does your wife do for you that she really doesn’t like to do, but does it anyway because she loves you. Ken said she cuts my toe nails!!!! Congratulations to Ken and Bert as they won the game and our chapter dues will be paid in full for 2016, and they get free registration to spring wing warmup. While at the rally, Kerry told a story about when him and Annette first got married. Kerry had rented an apartment in Florida for them to live in after their wedding. He decided to shut all the windows and leave the air conditioning off to save money, until they moved in after their wedding. Two weeks later when the newlyweds got to the apartment. Kerry unlocked the door, picked Annette up to carry her thru the threshold and this God awful smell hit then, within the first step in the door. It took their breath away and he almost dropped her. Apparently just before Kerry had left to go to Indiana, he had to take a dump and he had forgotten to flush. So this smell had time to fer-ment for 2 weeks in a hot apartment before they walked in. Kerry will be wearing the Sour Grapes for this month!!!
