About our film ‘Displaced’.

• Our film is Displaced is of a drama genre which shows the life of a young teenage girl and how she became homeless. We see her lifestyle at college and outside college and how she is treated due to her homelessness.

• Due to the film being a genre that is affecting many young teenagers, my group and I chose to make the film an independent film. This therefore means that a small media institution would distribute our media product.

Our opening sequence.

• We chose our film to be independent because we believe that it would be easier to focus on our target audience and we wouldn't need to follow some conventions which would be most likely needed to do if we chose a mainstream film.

• The downside to having an independent film is that we wouldn’t have many marketing products to market our film so we would have to stick to making social network pages, posters and trailers hoping that people would find it interesting to share it with their friends and family.

Distribution and Production companies.

• My group and I have decided to make our own production company because we thought it’ll be good to design our own logo and that the company would represent us as a group as the people who have produced the film.

• The distribution company we chose to distribute our film is Anchor Bay Entertainment. We chose this distributor because it has distributed many other independent films that have succeeded.

• This distribution company is a leading independent home entertainment company which releases a wide range of filmed entertainment in the theatrical markets.

• The president of this distribution company is Bill Clark and he has been it for the past 10 years.

• He has transformed the company from a distributor of catalogue products to one of the leading independent distributors of major new theatrical films and television series.
