Hollis Academy

Did you know that......every child who finishes 3rd grade and cann

ot read is

more susceptible to drugs, crime, and prison?

...85% of all juveniles who interface with the juvenile

court system are functionally illiterate?

...studies have shown that a child’s reading level in

the third grade is indicative of his/her reading level in

adulthood?

“One way every church can touch its community is by volunteering at a neighborhood school”. —Reggie McNeal, Missional Renaissance

FPC is stepping out to get involved in Hollis Academy, one of our local schools. Hollis is located 2.5 miles from our church campus, with approximately 540 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Of these 540 students, over 90% are living at or below the poverty level. By volunteering to help in this neighborhood school, we can make a difference and show the love of God to a community in need.

We are looking for volunteers who want to help in these areas: Tutoring•Readingtostudents•HelpingintheLibrary

Bakingforclassparties/events•Prayingforindividualstudents/teachers Serving as room parent for a classroom

To volunteer, contact Beth Simmons (232.4510 or [email protected]) or click on the

“missions and outreach” ministries page at firstpresgreenville.org.
